2005 RL - Climate Control Doesn't Work

I have a 2005 RL with about 130k miles, and am the second owner. My AC went out last weekend. I was able to turn on the AC, but only hot air was coming out (it was going strong up until that point). I'm not sure whether the original compressor was ever replaced by the original owner. I brought it to a friend's shop to have it looked at to determine if it was in fact the AC compressor/associated parts that went out. There was some probing involved, and now the AC/heat won't even turn on. None of the buttons on the climate control panel works, including the defroster buttons. All of the fuses were checked, and none had been blown. Has anybody seen this problem before? Could the whole module itself have been damaged? I removed the battery to see if the system would re-set itself to no avail. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks

I'm also getting the message "please operate climate control after starting the engine" even though it is on.

It could be a number of things. Sounds to me like either something is loose or you shorted out the AC control module or something else somehow when the "probing" was being performed. But from your full explanation it seems like that is just one of your problems, since the module was operating properly, but the AC wasn't working before you started messing with it.

My vote is a bad control board. You could take it out and look for burned components or dry solder joints. There are ways to force the A/C compressor on to verify all of the mechanics work, stator, clutch, compressor, etc.

Thanks for the response, guys. I also believe the climate control unit/module was fried as a result of the probing. I ordered a used unit for $100 and am hoping the climate control will be fixed. My main concern at this point is getting climate control back so I have heat when winter rolls around, and will address the compressor/ac in general once the climate control is back. If the unit doesn't address it, I'll probably take it into acura to have checked out. Presumption is some deeper electrical issue is at play if the replacement unit doesn't work. Might be worth mentioning that the vsa light is now on ad well. Perhaps pure coincidence, but I suspect that was also a result of the probing . Will update once replacement module is in

Installed the new climate control unit and it did the trick. Now just need to get the AC back and figure out why the VSA light went on after that probing.. Thanks, guys.
