15K-30K Service Cost

Can anyone share how much they paid for a 15K or 30K Service at the Acura dealer?

Just would like to know what to expect to pay...

thanks

Now that the computer provides the maintenance reminders, there are no longer 15K or 30K service intervals. Some dealers will still try to get you to bite on the major services at specified intervals. (One dealer tried it on me with my 2004 TL.) Let Acura know about that--it's dishonest. All you need to do is the specified service that comes up on the MID when you are at < 15% oil life.

I paid $250 for the 15,000 mile service. Just called 2 different Acura dealers for the 30,000 mile service, and was quoted $520 from each. Sounds like a ripoff to me.

I normally don't buy into these kinds of services... instead I look at the manual and see what is recommended at the mileage interval. So, if the manual recommends that I change fluid a and b at xxxx miles, then I'll say to the dealer; change oil/filter, fluid A & fluid B. That's it. I'm not paying for inspections, etc. I kinda giggled when I saw "150 point brake inspection recently." WTF is that???

Acura doesn't even GIVE a schedule for the RLs, does it? Instead it tells you to rely on Maintenance Minder. I seem to remember being unable to even find an oil change schedule in the manual.

150 pt brake inspection! Wow, sounds real thorough. Who comes up with this stuff??

That is correct. The owners manual tells you to rely on the Maintenance Minder, but does give some pointers for severe driving in such areas as (not an all inclusive list) air cleaner, timing belt, transmission, transfer and rear differential fluid changes, oil and brake fluid, etc. Some items are mileage based, some are time based, but surprisingly no time or mileage based combinations as in the old schedules.

Dealers are good at coming up with BS. My son's dog gwaned the rear seat belt in two on my Honda Pilot. I was at the Honda dealer last week and got a quote to replace the seat belt, $230 plus tax. They said the belt was $80 and the rest for labor. I ordered the belt on the internet from a Honda dealer in MA. The retail price was $73, and that dealer's price was $52. With shipping the total was $64. I put the belt on Saturday and it took about an hour. I could have probably done it faster if I were a certified Honda mechanic.
