OP please come back and reply to us!
I just got my RL back from the dealer for having the airbag recall replaced. My 2007 was running fine but having 75,000 miles I decided to do the timing belt service along with valve adjustment since I plan on having the car for a very long time. It lead to a few more repairs since the engine was apart. Here is my list that cost me less than $3000 with a dealer discount.
-replaced timing belt
-replaced spark plugs
-replaced water pump
-replaced serpentine belt
-coolant
-power steering flush
-replaced oil pump and seals
-replaced TB tensioner
-valve adjustment
-oil change
I can't fathom $11,000 for repairs. And just for record I asked for my old timing belt back so I can overlook the condition. I'm not a mechanic but it looks flawless.

Well shit, if I had a $28,000 RL, I wouldn't be wasting time on AZ. I'd be driving that fucker across the country, to get my money's worth out of it.

There is some inconsistent information related to purchase of this specific car by Rob Sharp - anyhow, I believe I asked him why 17k for 06 with that many miles, and I think his response was that he did not want to drive up to Chicago for better deals (5-6k less) but went with the local availability... ok... who am I to judge his decision lol
As it turns out, not only he overpaid, but he got robbed. While dealer will give you invoice estimates that equal fantasy fairy tales, it is up to the owner to get second opinion and get car fixed at the more reasonable cost.
Bottom line is > sheep is always in demand when it comes to hungry sales wolfs at the dealerships

Hey rob, want to buy a bridge off me? I'll sign it over to you for *only* 2 million bucks. It's a deal. You can setup your own toll stations on it and make your money back. Plus, it's a huge landmark! The bridge is located in Brooklyn...

You all are right. I get it. I got robbed off my ass for this car. Dumped a fortune in repairs. My mistake. Thankful I have money to do it. I looked at a Mercedes S-Class on the lot that happened to be right next to it. They were in the same shape about the same mileage, and price. I like the RL more, so I decided to jump on it. Not much harm to me, just a few unnecessary dollars out of my wallet. As for the repairs, I only had the necessary repairs done on the vehicle, that they suggested.

I mean I get it, you fell in love with the car, learned a lesson, spent more money than you should have, life moves on... so I hope you get the point that all others are sharing, this was very bad deal - but hey, there is plenty more stories some people are not willing to share, so I give you 5 points for sharing the story - some other forum visitors may learn from your mistake and what to look for.

As I said in my first comment, I'd like for him to post up a pic of the service receipt so we can see what this dealer took him for and most importantly, who this dealer is so we can stay the hell away. If he's in Creve Coeur, MO, it's gotta be Mungenast Acura in Ballwin or Frank Leta Acura in St. Louis. He'll be doing us a service by just letting us know that, IMO.

Truth be told, while our criticisms come off harsh here, this is no different than the ball busting we would give our own friends, in the real world. The only downside here is that everything sounds ten times worse online, when written and with no actual voice behind it, besides the one the reader gives him/herself.
Yeah, it sucks. Money was spent and some wasted. At the end of the day, it really isn't the end of the world. Just a shitty situation, and at least one that can ultimately be recovered from, even if it takes some time. If anything, as mentioned, this is an eye opener for everyone, including the OP, and I agree that the OP had some major balls to post about it.
The good thing is that he likes the car. It's not all negative.

Fair enough on being honest... but correct me if I am wrong: whoever has "few unnecessary dollars" to spend, does not usually finance $17k car that is more than 10 years old with that many miles.
