'07 - '08 Desert Mist Metallic RL
Need some help here, I've been looking around for the last few months for an '07 - '08 Desert Mist Metallic RL. Found one in Mass but it sold before I could get my hands on it, I'm hoping that someone can give me the heads up if they see one locally or know of one for sale in or around their area. There are only a few flags I have up regarding the purchase of one.
1. Nothing older than an '07 and with more than 60k miles.
2. Only color I'm after is Desert Mist Metallic (goldish/champagne color) with parchment interior and the car must be MINT!!
3. Prefer a reputable dealership but I'm open to a private seller with service docs/records.
4. The only restrictions on the location of the vehicle are: must be on US soil and not being sold in Alaska or Hawaii.
All I need the individual to do is provide me with the name of the dealership/sellers contact info and I'd handle the rest. If I end up purchasing the vehicle provided by that individual I will reward the effort.
Thanks in advance and I appreciate the help..

Good luck man. You're delving into limited sales years with a rare color. It'll be a nice find if you do, though. Is tech package a desire?

07 Tech Package, 111k miles:

07 with 152k miles:

Honestly OP, you're probably going to have to loosen up a little bit on your requirements, mostly when it comes to color. Out of the 101 07-08 RL's on cars.com there were exactly two in the color you're looking for. It's just hard to be that picky when looking for a used, low production vehicle that is 6-7 years old.

When shopping for a used car like the RL you're probably better off making a list of things you cannot have in your RL, (certain colors, lack of nav, dents, high mileage, etc). I hope you do find the car you're looking for OP, I just think you're being a little bit unrealistic in your search. Some people go out looking for a specific exterior/interior color combo on a NEW car and have to settle due to shortage issues...much less a used car that sold so few units.

PS The one from Tropical Cadillac(4 miles from me) actually looks pretty sweet,it has the wooden wheel and shift knob which are desired accessories.I am sure that car was owned by an old person(local demografic)who traded it in for a Cady to go to chirch and Publix. Also that particular color is loooved by the elderly..trust me i know.In other words i think that car is a great find.

Looks like some potentials showed up.
Anyway I wanted to say you can be selective in your used car search, but you just have to have a lot of time. It doesn't work for people needing a replacement vehicle immediately.
I am always poking around searching for my next car. And so far I have always found exactly what I am looking for eventually.
One of the factors that, in my experience, doesn't matter as much anymore is the mileage. Once it is out of warranty, it is out of warranty whether by 100 miles or 30,000.

No. From my own personal sampling, everybody who has bought an extended warranty never used it, or developed a problem the extended warranty excluded. I will never buy a new car. It is not something I can justify from a fiscal sense. But my family, being the traditional asian mindset, almost all buy only new cars. So I have been able to compare both sides.
One big thing I have noticed from talking to friends and family (I am my social circle's "car guy") is that people shy from high mileage vehicles because of the cost of maintenance, not because of catastrophic repairs. They confuse or combine the two. If I am buying a car that is near the 105k service for example, I will definitely price that into the purchase. But even if I bought it at 80k and drove it for 20k before having to do the 105k, I don't view it as a cost of buying a high mileage car, but just an offset against the $25k in depreciation I saved not buying new. If you amortize the cost of the 105k service over 105,000 miles vs the 20,000 miles in my example, it still doesn't overcome the depreciation per mile hit.
The one car where I ended up spending more than I anticipated was my 2005 RL. This was mainly because the A/C went out, and it developed a number of other 1st year problems. But the A/C was an $800 repair, which is below the cost an extended warranty would have been.
But even then, I had priced the car accordingly when I bought it and my total cost of ownership was about average compared to friends and family who also own luxury cars.
I got rid of it because it was developing prop shaft whine, but also because I was never truly happy with it. It had a front end collision at some point that was not repaired well. It was the one car I've owned that I never detailed. Had the exterior been in better condition, I probably would still have it. I would buy another RL, but I would avoid a 1st year one.
Might have been a little bit of a rambling post. Conclusion, I'm all for used cars and get what you want. Don't worry so much about mileage.

Good post, I think one thing to factor in when purchasing used is your mechanical ability vs financial stability.
I forced my mom to buy a used car with 10k miles because she needs a warranty.
Me on the other hand, I do my own work in most cases so I target used and mildly abused cars/women.

My first pair were Larry Mahan, a Cavendar's Boot City house brand. They're pretty good quality. They were the most affordable boots that are made entirely in the US. Justin is a popular entry brand but they've outsourced production to Mexico now and the quality shows. I still wear them from time to time. Boots last forever except you need to re-sole them every so often.
Now I have a few pairs of Lucchese's.
Unfortunately I'm wearing loafers today. Otherwise I'd snap a pic.

Sleeper,
Don't know if you are still in for the hunt however, spotted this on Autotrader. It is an '06 (out of your spec) but only has 45k miles. Might be worth looking into if still interested. Good Luck.
Regards, Paul.

Nice color choice OP. When I was looking for my car, I didn't have a particular choice of color as this car is rare enough. I found a DMM A-spec and I appreciate it more every day. With dark color rims, it gives a nice result.
