I guess this isn't a common problem but it is known to happen to some owners. I think the culprit is the door handle hardware. Thankfully it's only happening on one door.

So it started off subtle and I didn't really do anything about it given the age of the car. Now I've got a freaking hole in my door so here we are.


I figure the entire skin needs to be replaced and likely the door handle. I feel like the easiet option/approach is to just find a door off a wrecked one and do a direct swap?
Are the doors interchangeable and plug and play for the 05-12 years? I guess the door lock would be a challenge getting it to work properly with the proximity keys.

Any info would be a great help!

So odds are if it's that bad on the outside the entire inside is a gonner. You're going to want to replace the door skin. Im not sure if it's interchangeable past '08.

I agree the inside is probably toast. I did a basic search for a door skin for the ‘05 and it was the same part number through ‘12. Was there a change after ‘08 that would affect the interchangeability? I found a wrecked ‘10 with the same color and it has a complete door. I’m hoping it will be a direct swap. Hard to know for sure though at this point.

if that part numbers match then it should be a direct swap.
