05-06 RL's Shift knob in a 05 TSX 5AT

Hi everyone, I'm a fellow AZ member and a long time Acura Fan. I was wondering if I could ask 2nd Gen RL owners 2005-2006 a question.

I am interested in putting in 05-06 RL shift knob into my 05 TSX 5AT. The TSX's 5AT shaft where the shift knob screws on has a M8 (8mm) Thread so you just twist on the shift knob.

Does anyone know if the RL's shaft is also an M8 thread also? I would appreciate it! Thanks!

Yes, this RL shift knob will fit on your TSX. I just purchased the wood RL knob for my TSX a few days ago. No one at the dealership was sure if it would fit but after taking the TSX knob off the RL knob screwed right on with no problem. It was a nice classy addition to the interior.

Hey Thanks a lot! Gotta love the RL! The RL's front is set low and looks aggressive like the Kenstyle front for the TSX. Nevertheless TSX and RL's rock!

I wonder if the MDX has the same M8 thread for their knobs too.

I'd say yes, as everyone at the dealership was fairly certain the shaft and threads were the same across the Acura line. I was their first customer asking for an RL shift knob to go on a TSX, by the way.

Now I know what to do with the shift knob I removed when I installed the wood done. I wonder if the RL wheel will also fit the TSX...

Installed the wood knob last night as well.. quick question - Did you feel that the plastic piece under the wood felt inferior to the metal piece on the stock knob? I believe the stock knob is alloy below the leather portion, while the wood unit is plastic below the wood.

I was afraid of torquing the thing on all the way for fear it was going to crack.

I didn't notice that the wood knob lower flange was plastic, but I had no trouble attaching it. I did notice that there is an insert inside that is white plastic, but I assumed the outer body was metal since that's what it looked like to me.

What's the difference btwn the RL knob and the TSx knob?
Is RL kjnob bigger in knob size? I personally think the TSX knob for AT is bit too small.
