I am considering buying a new RDX. I am just in the information gathering stage and have not contacted a dealer as of yet. I am seeing some conflicting information regarding the availability of a compact spare. As someone who drives long distances, frequently at night, I just cannot consider buying a car w/o a compact spare. Although I realize that I may never need a spare, it is also possible that I would need one on the home from the dealer. It is a deal breaker for me.

Can someone please give me a definitive answer:
Does the 2017 RDX come with a compact spare?
If not, is there room to purchase and store one that does not intrude on the cargo capacity?

The advance comes with a spare (first hand confirmation). I've heard the base and tech give you a can of spray in lieu of a spare.

Our Advance came with the spare.

My brother's Tech did not, but he bought one from the dealer.

My '16 advance does not have a spare.

That's interesting as I too have a 2016 RDX Advance and it DOES have a full sized spare tire. Hmm..

The spare comes with the AWD version, but not with the FWD version, even if it's an advanced FWD.

2018 AWD Advanced comes with a spare.

Tech

As does the 2017 & 2018 RDX Elite. Up here, these only come in AWD no matter what trim level.
