Installing P255/55R18 on 2013 RDX - Advice Needed
For next winter, I plan on putting the winter tires I already have left from my last MDX (P255/55R18) on new rims and on the new 2013 RDX, which recommends P235/60R18. I know the diameter of the two tires are almost equal which will avoid differences in speed indication, but I'm worried about other things, like, is the extra 2cm width going to cause any problems. Do you think it will cause any VSA or other automated systems to malfunction? Also, the existing P235/60R18 on the RDX seems to be at about 3cm distance from the suspension pillar in front. Is it going to be a problem reducing that distance to 2cm?

As long as you keep the same 45mm offset as the stock rims I don't think that amount of extra width would matter or have any affect on the AWD, braking or suspension systems. Your biggest concern would be rubbing during turning or suspension travel and although I don't think you would have a problem with it you really wont know for sure until you or someone else gives it a try.

A follow-up question, closely related: I'm new in the RDX, and plan lots of winter driving. A little extra ground clearance would help with deep snow. My plan is to mount 235 65 R18 winter tires, rather than the factory 235 60 R18, providing about .5" higher ride. Anybody know of problems doing this?

^^^ I am not a tire expert but I am planning on running these on steel rims....

Hmmm....that combo would be a close match to the OEM wheels/tires in total diameter. I'm considering mounting 23565R18 Blizzak DM-V1s or Michelin Xi2s on the stock wheels. Should add about .5 inch additional ground clearance - with only minor effects on odo and speedo. Interested in opinions...thx.

Hey, been posting on all threads I can find on 255/55/18 tires...has anyone actually done this on their RDX? The overall radius is only 0.1" larger than the stock tires (235/60/18). Are there any issues with turning or steering? Do the tires have enough clearance in the front? Would love to see pics if anyone has 255's...

Did anyone actually try? 255/55/18? Can't find this info anywhere. Bought an rdx spurr of the moment. Only to find out I cant get much info on them. CANT EVEN FIND if 255/55/18 fits.

Don't have a custom setup, was hoping to use the stock rims. Does anyone know how wide the stock AWD Advance rims are? Was searching around the forums but couldn't find anything...

Sorry to be all OCD but what is the offset of your 18x10 rims? It can't possibly be 45 mm like the factory rims, otherwise they would not have fit due to hitting what I recall was probably the bottom cup of the strut on the front. On my 2014, there is only about 12 mm clearance there with the factory wheels.

No difference in the width of the Advance rims, they are 18x7.5. For a 255 width tire you really should have wider rims like 8.5 or 8.0 at the least. Just checked Tire Rack and they say rim width range for 255/55/18 is 7-9" so maybe the stock 7.5's wouldn't be too bad.
