Bang when lifting rdx with jack
Hi.so first I'm new and just bought a jack the other day. I tried lifting my 2016 acura rdx today and heard a loud bang and got scared. I used the lifting point circled in blue. Is that a bad place to use? Did I mess something up?
I think I did end up finding the correct lift point here?? The black piece?

You might have caught the bolt head with the jack and slipped off as you were lifting the vehicle, which is the likely noise you hear. That's part of the frame rails, which are strong and it's fine to lift on. I wouldn't lift from the radiator support as that part of structure isn't as strong as the frame rails. Where the lift arms are in your pictures, is correct as well.

When lifting a vehicle, if the jack saddle is metal without a rubber insert, I would never use a metal to metal contact as they tend to slip.
You can do two things. 1) get some rubber hockey puck and put one in the jack saddle or 2) get a jack pad with a rectangular protrusion to fit in the frame rail. They are usually made of Delrin or aluminum. And always use one or more jack stands under the vehicle.
