19' sparkling silver rim on 2013 rdx
Hi, I just bought a 2013 rdx. Instead of opting for the 18" rims, I asked if I could have the 2012 rdx's sparkling silver 19" rims installed.
I was wondering if it'd be ok if I changed the tires though. The sparkling silver rims come with a 245/45/19 tire. I'd like to install a 245/55/19 toyo versado cuv tire. This tire would be half an inch larger in total height compared with the stock tire. Would the tire pressure monitoring system, ABS, etc all work ok if I did this? Do I need to go to an acura dealer to instsall the tires because of the tire pressure monitoring system?
Thanks for the help

I'm no expert in this area, but I don't think it will affect the TPMS, since I think the TPMS uses pressure sensors as opposed to tire revolution. It will affect your speedometer, though. However, according to a quick Google comparo, the 55 series tire will actually be closer in size to the stockers than the 45 series tire (1.73% smaller diameter vs 4.88% larger).
Either way, I'd love to see these wheels on your RDX. I'd also be very interested to know how much you paid for them. I really like the new RDX, but the stock wheels are very plain to me. They look very similar to wheels on the last-gen CR-V and current Chevy Equinox.

Ok, I've decided to get the toyo tires (245/55/19). I think they're close enough in size to the stock tires, so there shouldn't be any problems. Any other comments out there about this?
I do think the larger rims and slightly larger wheels overall will fill the wheel well better. I'll post pictures in a week or two when everything is installed.

You should use a set of TPMS sensors for the 2013 RDX unless you want to try the 2007-2012 TPMS sensors to see if they are recognized. If not the tires will have to be removed again to break the bead to replace the sensors. Better to invest in the proper set of sensors from the start. The RDX should recognize the new sensors without any other intervention.

Thanks for you help guys. I believe the 245/55/19 tires would be very slightly larger (half inch larger diameter overall) than stock. How much larger than stock would be considered neglibile?
GRDX: Don't all acura's use a universal TPMS sensor? Also, do you have pictures of your CRV with the sparkling silver rims? I'd love to see what they look like. What size tire did you mount on them?

Here are the 07-10 Acura RDX optional 19" wheels in Sparkle Silver with Honda chrome H-Mark center cap emblems from the 07 Accord optional wheel and Pirelli P Zero Nero All Season P245/50/19 tires (from Discount Tire) on my 2010 EX. Just back from the shop. I didn't even get a chance to clean the mold release yet.
Traded in the CR-V for the RDX. Still have the 19' Wheels and tires.

Here's a picture of a 2009 RDX with the 19's. I always thought these looked great on the 1st gen RDX, but probably made the already rough ride even harsher. I think they will work well with a '13 RDX.

Hey guys, I finally got my RDX with the 19" sparkling silver rims installed. The toyo vercado cuv 245/55/19 tires really fill in the wheel-well and make the ride so much more smoother and quieter. I was so surprised what a difference the wheels made!
I also posted the link to the photos on the photo's forum.

I love those wheels sooooo much! If I knew I'd keep my RDX for more than 3 years, I'd get a set but knowing my uncontrollable urge to switch cars every 3 years, I doubt I'll keep the RDX for long *lol*

19s do look better. Who's going to try 20s?

I traded my 2010 Venza AWD with 20" wheels for the 2013 RDX AWD with 18" wheel. I can tell you the that 20 incher will make you pay for every bump and gravel you run over on the road. It's a rough ride. I like the thumbing sound of the 18" than the clanking noise of the 20". But I agree that 20" look nice on a car though.

Hi,
Does installing the 19" sparkling silver rims with Toyo Vercado Cuv 245/55/19 tires have any negative affect on any of the RDX gas comsumption or performance?
Do you know if the speedometer still acurate?

22" rims as an option?
Hey guys,
The 19's look sharp. I recently decided to go with 22's which is the maximum size this vehicle can take without doing any suspension mods etc. Handles fantastic but since the chrome rims are slightly heavier, acceleration takes a small hit.

Nice. I thinking about going the other route with our RDX by getting AT tires (i.e. General Grabbers).

Tire Size and Offset
What tire size did you go with? Also what offset and width are your 22's?
