I really like how willing you are to test things out (speaking of which, did you ever end up dipping the lower sides white?)! I agree that is a VERY complex wheel to try and dip especially with all those lines and angles and thin and thick spokes. I think you need to tape it off like you did before and simply expose the other inner spoke. I'm excited to see how it turns out!

NICE! Can't wait to see what it looks like. By the way where are you buying your dip? Best I can find locally in Edmonton is lowes at $20 a can. There are some off-brand ones at Canadiantire for like $14.99 but I don't know what the quality is like.

i drive down to Bellingham, WA and hit up the local home depot...$6.28USD per color and around $8USD for gloss. with exchange, still pretty decent. and they have a larger variety of colors.

So that makes the cans come out to something like $8-$10 correct? MUCH better than the $20 I have been spending. They sell plastidip in Lowes, but yeah that crap flexdip in C-tire makes me weary. Red accents would look cool with the white paint, but I honestly doubt it won't look ricey. I did something a little ricey myself and dipped my engine cover/intercooler cover red on my 2007 RDX but it is always hidden and unique to me so I loved it.

Did the same to my 08 TL Types
I forgot you live in Vancouver, not Calgary (by the way how is life in Vancouver, I really really want to move there in the next 5 years).

For some reason those wheels seem to work with the tail lights really well! I don't know quite what it is, but there is something about those tail lights and wheels that just works lol. It also looks extremely factory, like I would never ever think it wasn't supposed to come like that.

He's from Canada (but lives close to the U.S border) so unless he bought them from the states, our price is likely to be absurd compared to what you guys pay.

Here's a summary pic for those who don't want to go through all the above content. I think the new look on these wheels definitely flows along with my black/white theme. (black grill, black emblems, etc)
If you're wanting to attempt this, aside from the tediousness of taping the wheels... do not forget to 'warm up' the plastidip. get some boiling water into a pot and place the cans in that pot for a good 5-10mins...then SHAKE IT UP...and go at it!
before/after (the grey center cap was also dipped black /gloss to match the finished product)
total estimated project cost? $40 - 2 cans matte black/ 2 cans glossifier. and about 6 hours of your time.

My winter wheels....a dedicated set of 2013-15 style wheels are for experimenting on. I dipped them also black with glossifier but after a year, they've become quite dull.
So...assuming IF I ever decide to go back to the original color - i can simply peel it off, I decided to paint OVER the dip with gloss black VHT wheel paint. Again, this is just to see how durable it'll be during the winter months.....and yah, need moar gloss.
dipped with gloss wheel - not quite matte but a flat satin finish that seems to be fading.

reviving a slightly old thread..
has anyone tried dipping/painting the elite wheels with a different colour or different style?
i like what i see above but i can't help but think what the wheels would look like if they were all black or if the silver on the wheels were blacked out.
I'm using the oem elite wheels as my winters on my 2016 cpb

2016-2018...ever wonder what it would look like if you painted the black trim along the bottom sides and rear? Dipped with white plastidip with pearlizer gives me an idea before I get it professionally painted / color matched.
The dip with pearl is not a perfect match of course but this is a test to see if I like it...and i think it looks great...will get it done at a bodyshop soon.
