Thumbs up Black with Beige interior. 19" Sparkling Silver Rims, 245/55 Toyo Tires, Roof Rails

My 2013 Black RDX with Beige leather interior:

Black with light interior is a classic look. I always wanted a luxury car with this color combo.

Wood Interior accessories make Acura's entry level SUV interior more "luxurious." More like and MDX interior.

I chose to add the Roof Rails just for asethetics (no cross bar). I thought the RDX was too low (almost like the Infinity EX). The rails gave it a more "utility" feel and make it feel less like a wagon to me.

I convinced the dealership to install the 2012 19" accessory rims (called sparkling silver rims). Initially they were hesitant because it was not meant for the 2013 RDX but they let me do it. They all liked it when they saw it installed!
I chose to use Toyo Vercado CUV 245/55/19 tires, which to my surprise made a huge difference. Not only did it fill in the wheel-well better, but it made the ride so much smoother and quieter! Even the sales person noticed it immediately. The stock wheels made the RDX interior a bit loud for a luxury SUV. The toyo tires were built specifically for SUV's so they're quiet, plus they look good! I also like that they're wider.
The Mud Guards were installed more so to accentuate the already large wheel-wells.

The other options: rubber floor mats, trunk floor mats, trunk cover.

Looks nice, mpd. I always wondered what the wood trim would look like on the parchment interior. Looks pretty good. You should've taken a shot of the entire front dash and center console while in the back to show how the the wood accents look "head-on". But maybe I'm asking for too much.

Thanks for the pics and, again, it looks great. Congrats.

Ride looks sharp, I'm really digging the style of the new RDX. Acura got the right execution on this CUV!

mpd, your RDX looks great! I agree the black with parchment interior is a good looking combo. And the wheels just make it the perfect package.

Did you swap the wheels for the stockers, or did you buy them outright and keep both sets?

Sparkling silver is the finish on the rims, no? Not the name of them. Gorgeous car, but man...that interior would be filthy looking if I owned it. I'm not very careful with being clean when I get in the car! (after mountain biking and such).

Congrats!

Beautiful!!! Another wonderful colour on the 2013 RDX - now I am in deep trouble, because I really like the white, Forged Silver, red and now black on the new RDX.... what will Weather call me now!? LOL

Hah. Maybe it would be easier to start with which interior you prefer. If you want the parchment, that would eliminate Forged Silver and Red in CA, right?

I still can't get over why CA offers combinations not available in the US and vice versa...

Thanks for the comments fellas.

@DibbyD: I got to keep both sets of tires. I'll probably sell the stock tires if anyone is interested.

@RockStar143: Oh, I thought "sparkling silver" was the name of the rims. My mistake. Either way, they are nice.

@Weather: Yeah I love the rims. One problem was the tire pressure sensors on them were 2012, and my 2013 rdx had trouble reading them. So the dealer changed the tires sensors to 2013 sensors for me! Awesome place I bought from.

....I keep saying this time and time again. A good dealer makes ALL the difference in the world and this is where you are treated like someone instead of a number! That is why given the choice between paying a little bit more and get excellent service will beat saving 500$ and get treated like shit! As I tell people, I don't work for free nor do I expect the people that work at the dealership...in order to attract and retain the best people, they need to make money like everyone else

I have a rapport with my dealer that is second to none.....I would never consider buying any other Acura's from any other dealership. In fact, part of my brand loyalty is based from these guys and not teh product per se (Although I do like Acura's) but these folks are just sooooo good to me!

Same here. I have a light gray leather interior in my current car and it's never clean. In the RDX that I'm eying, I need it to be a dark interior which means my exterior color choices are limited.

Roof Rails on Acura RDX: Need advice

I plan to purchase an RDX AWD with Tech in a day or two. I like the way the roof rails look but am very concerned about wind noise.

My question: Do the roof rails WITHOUT cross bars add to wind noise?

I was thinking of having the rood rails installed by the dealer and keeping the cross bars in our garage to install and use as needed. I doubt I would use them more than once or twice per year. Think that would work?

I'd rather forgo the rails then add wind noise to the driving experience.

Sorry if this is a redundant post. But I didn't see anything definitive about rails vs. cross bars.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I have the roof rails with out the cross bars and do not notice any noise. As a point of caution if you are planning to only put the cross bars on when you need them, if they are OE bars look at the tech instructions on installation and you may change your mind....not at fast thing to do.

I have the roof rails without cross bars and dont notice wind noise from them either; even with the sunroof open. I am currently driving a roofrail-less '13 RDX loaner while my car is in service. No difference at all. I suspect that if you add the crossbars you might hear a difference.

Thanks for the advice. I bailed on the cross bars: too difficult to take on and off. I now own a a beautiful grey ext/black int awd with tech and LOVE it.

very nicely done..your RDX is my inspiration!

once i get my 13' wdp rdx tech.. i will hunt out only 2 things:

the older RDX wheels.
the roof rails.

QUESTION: would the 07-12 rdx TPMS work on the 13s?

@Lab3: Did you get the roof rails? I don't know about the wind noise with the cross bars as I don't have them installed.

@Acura604: Did you get the roof rails and the older RDX rims? You would need 245/55/19 tires to make it look right. I'd also recommend the Mud Guards to accentuate the already large wheel-wells.

Upload some pics guys, I'm curious to see how your cars look!
