Smile Symbol above F on fuel guage

Does anyone know what this symbol is and what it's for?

I'd say it's for the knob above and to the right

Good thing it's not back and to the left or else it's probably just a magic luggie. Sorry I can't help you.

I skimmed through the manual but couldn't find anything. Maybe it just means the entire instrument cluster light is on? does it come on when your head light is off?

It is the symbol for the knob you turn to adjust the brightness of the dashboard lights (channeling my inner Meat Loaf)
:-)

I bet you are right Andy, and MDfree, since the knob in question is for adjusting the brightness of the dash lights! Thanks

Thanks mdfree. My manual mentions the knob, but nothing about the symbol. Page 128 in the 2015 manual is a list of Audio commands for Ipod.

I think its very interesting that car companies (not just Acura) try to have clarity by using complexity... and in reality it only adds confusion.

Who in their right mind would look at that little dial/symbol and think to themselves... hum now I know what that pin next to it does!

I would think that the least they could do would be to provide the phone number of a good Psychic who could interpret these symbols for us!

.... which is used to control the reality distortion field of the RDX.

Want to distort reality more and make people think the RDX is a super duper luxury vehicle so you can get that 8.5 girl? Turn the knob clockwise.

Owners manual says default setting will only get you at best a 5.0 girl. Don't waste your time with those. Friend zone them and go for the 8.5 or higher girls.

The little gauge looking thing by the F tells you which side the gas cap is on.

Standard equipment on all cars since about 1980, but easy to ignore.

Uh, no. You are referring to the little gas pump icon at the half full (or half empty) position. In MOST cars it indicates what side of the car the filler pipe is but there is no mandate and it certainly isn't on all cars since 1980.

The little speedometer like icon is - like others have said - an indicator to turn the knob to increase or decrease dashboard brightness.

One interesting note on most foreign cars is that the fuel filler pipe is usually located on the (native) passenger side. The majority of higher speed "T-bone" accidents occur to the driver's side and locating the filler pipe on the passenger side can reduce fuel spills following an accident.

German/Italian cars have them on our passenger side while British and Japanese cars have them on their passenger side - our driver's side.

There is no requirement here in the US but most US cars have them on the driver's side.

I liked the '56 Chevy where you turned a chrome piece on the tail light assembly and tilted the assembly down. Or the '57 here you opened a little door on the tail light. Or later where you tilted the license plate down.
