13-18 RDX Mods, Suspension & Parts - Cross Reference List
I have modified and installed a functional properly working 08-12 3.5 V6 Honda Accord AF Dynamic cold air intake kit with heat shield and a cold ram air source for our RDX with great performance results and heat gun test - no dyno but the same motor and intake was dyno tested for about 10hp gain. I can upload pics and a vid later. Sounds amazing with a dramatic vtec cross over.
Next I want to mildly lower our RDX as the stock suspension is just a little to sloppy and has a high roll over risk in my opinion. To be honest the stock suspension is not as smooth as it should be for a luxury crossover so a quality spring kit would give a better ride potentially while improving handling ride height and stance. The rear end on our 2016 30k RDX is already sagging before I even put weight into the car. So a nice raked mild drop would do wonders.
Just want to see what other Honda/Acura platforms are close or share the same platform as the 2nd gen RDX in terms of parts/chassis/ suspension components since there is zero after market performance support for the gen 2 RDX.
I have done the following research.
1. 2007-2011 Honda CRV suspension is the same as the 2012 - 2016 Honda CRV according to part #, CRV forums and H/R. The Gen 2 RDX 13-18 shares the same platform as the 12-16 CRV.
-H/R makes a sport spring kit part #51822 for the 07-11 & 12-16 CRV with a 1.4"F & 1.3"R drop.
-So does Godspeed and Eibach I believe. More aggressive drops.
So in theory this would work?
Only problem I can see is there is about a 300-450lbs gap between models from the CRV and RDX. The springs where made for a CRV curb weight.
2. Someone on this forum lowered a older MDX with odyssey springs so I am thinking we might be able to do the same with the 2nd Gen RDX. Thread below.
https://acurazine.com/how-tos/a/acur...springs-429439
-2011-2016 Odyssey H/R sport 1.5"F and 1.2"R also has a higher curb weight of up to 4600 lbs and our RDX weights up to 4000lbs in AWD form so this would probably be a better fit.
I can not find much info out there between chassis from 11-16 Odyssey and 13-18 RDX.
What do you guys think? I might pull the trigger on some H/R CRV springs in April when the snow melts + new pair of rims

reviving on old thread...
did you ever get around to installing one of the lowering springs you mentioned? i've been curious as to how the rdx would look lowered. i went up to 19s with wider tires and the tire gap in the fender is still huge

I Have decided to go with a custom set of lowering springs and rates from a company in the states called Coil Spring Specialties. They charge about 400 bucks a pair so would be $800 USD + shipping. A member on this group by the name Radical already has the OEM specs on file as he made his own custom set. You can call and pull up his order by using Radical as the name of the order. I am going to alter his spec a little bit as my vehicle is AWD and his was FWD.
Radicals FWD spec F2.25" R1.50" drop. Linear rate with 15% increase in rate over stock in the front. Rear was the same rate.
My 2016 AWD Elite spec F2" R1.5" drop. Linear front rate with 15% increase and a Progressive rear rate for towing and full load purpose. Rating designed for about 1500- 2000lbs @ 1" compression. Have not decided full rear rates yet. I also want the vehicle to under steer less with this approach. So hopefully this set up will help with light towing or full load vehicle with passengers+cargo and overall under steer + the brutal body roll this vehicle has. Correcting the camber for this drop is off the shelf Honda parts. I wish someone made a decent strut for this car....

New Coilovers Suspension Install
Hello friends, to update those interested in this MOD, I put my full suspension of JVR Drive Coilovers on my RDX 2018 AWD, it only needed a base to securely mount the spiral in the rear, I made it from Teflon, I hope it helps you and you like how the car was after the mod and the installation of the wheels

Avid1 SL02 wheels, 20x9 front and 20x10 rear. Khumo PS91
245 45 R20 front
275 40 R20 rear.
I think that it is possible to go up to 2.5 inches or more, I will try later and share, depending on the distance of the shock, it is possible more or less 3 inches higher

Reviving an older thread...
On my 2018 Advance/Elite - being told struts may need replacement...and tires soonish, so it seems like a good time.
I see people putting 19x8.5 and 20x8.5 wheels on... what offset? Stock 18x7.5 with 45 offset are close to suspension. I think 19 will take it a little further up (and away) but will the added width bring it closer?
I would also like to lower it by about an inch. I was looking at the KYB struts, but not sure on what lowering springs to use. I also looked at coilovers from SF Racing, but don't see any reviews here.
I want to keep it as stock as possible, just tighten it up a little, and give it a better looking stance.
Thoughts?

Hi friend, I have a good experience with this coilovers kit https://d2bdmotorwerks.com/i-2389589...rdx-tb3-4.html its the same manufactarer like SF Racing, but you need some mods in the rear coil spring base, its the only issue. I have this suspension for last 18 months and all confort looking good
