Installing Rear Parking Sensors On A Base RDX

Having driven my wife’s RDX with Advance package and liked the convenience of parking sensors together with the rear view camera I decided to fit reverse sensors to my base RDX.

The system I purchased gives out a voice warning in 2m, 1.5m, 0.8m, 0.6m, 0.4m, Stop, increments when adjusted for maximum sensitivity.

purchased on EBAY "CISBO SILVER REAR REVERSE PARKING SENSORS VOICE ALERT LED DISPLAY CANBUS KIT”

It has an LCD with indicators as to which side the obstruction is and I also liked the smaller 18mm diameter colored sensors supplied with the kit.

I did not want to mount the LCD display in the instrument/speedo area so located the LCD with the parking sensor box in the rear cargo area and will just be relying on voice notification with an external loudspeaker from the LCD box to the rear seats.

I’ve used the voice notification for a few months and found it useful in the rain when the rear camera image is distorted and also when looking in the side mirrors or around the SUV when parking.

18mm sensors mounted on bumper in same positions as Advance Package

Top grommet inside rear cargo area behind cover. Parking sensor cables enter here.

Location of parking sensor electronics inside rear cargo area behind cover.

Only using voice notification for parking so routed an external speaker next to rear seat.

Reverse grey wire soldered to parking sensor wire and covered with heat shrink tubing.

Solid grey reverse wire has parking sensor wire joined with solder and covered in heat shrink sleeving.

Original protective tubing slid back over reverse wiring.

Routing parking sensor wire back to rear compartment in stages from one interior opening to another using above stiff wire attached to flexible parking sensor wire.

Wow, love reading posts like this. Great quality work. How are those parking sensors holding up?

Installed rear parking sensors are still working without a problem.

I’ve found them very useful when parking, providing additional feedback/warning to the small screen of the base reverse camera display.
