Has anyone installed the Acura wood steering wheel?

wood shifter knob
I would pass on the wheel but the shifter is a piece of cake. It took 5 minutes at most. I bought it on line and they sent publication 13461 with it that had pictures and details.
I had the wood trim kit installed by the dealer. I asked around and the adhesive they use is very high tack and unforgiving as I understand it. It all looks great. I have seen several comments that only "old guys" like the wood trim so I guess I am officially old! My wife loves and it is her car....nough said.

Thanks for the advice. I think I will try the shifter knob myself and let the dealer do the wheel. I dont even own the required steering wheel puller tool. My wife loves the posted photos of the wood trim accessories so we are definitely "old" too.
Thx

I agree with GRDX - it does depend on your level of skill and I would not attempt it without a good shop manual. I took the steering wheel and airbag off my integra when I replaced the steering rack. All the airbag wiring is yellow and they no longer use shorting jumpers to make them safe. Once you unplug the harness it is safe to handle (although still keep it pointed away from you). You will need a protected torx driver to remove the airbag and may need a steering wheel puller if the wheel is stubborn on the splines. You will also need to adjust the clockspring or cable reel following the procedure in the manual. They also tell you not to reuse the old steering wheel nut - be sure and torque the new one to the spec. Good luck if you decide to DIY.
