Text messages with Iphone

Does the text message feature work with an iphone? When I try to use it, it says it's not compatible. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Depends upon which iPhone and iOS you have. Need a 4S or later running iOS 6.

There are settings both in the phone and in the car that will need to be changed in order to enable thins functionality. Search through the other threads...there are several on this topic.

I read somewhere here that if you go to your bluetooth setting in your iphone, then go to notification and click yes, that it will let you receive text messages and read it to you up to about 160 characters. It will still not let you dictate or send your text tho. That's what they had in other topics here. I haven't tried it and just read it today and will try.

This worked for me once I configured my phone properly. It will read the message to you, but you cannot respond.
