Last month we purchased 2013 RDX AWD w/ tech. We wanted to find out if we have the latest navigation software in our RDX. Is there any way we can look-up the version through menu? As per Acura website the most latest version is V4.B1. How can I verify what I have in my RDX?.

Page 212 of the Nav Manual indicates you would press "Info Button>Other>System/Device Information" and the software version should be among the information displayed.

How does the navigation system get updated? My sales rep at the dealer said it automatically updates and you never have to bring it in to update but I find that hard to believe. I tried googling but it's a hard thing to search for.

Vehicle too new. Version currently installed is the newest.

I couldn't find a place where they specifically state it is a DVD-based system, but I believe it is. Also page 235 of the 2013 RDX Nav manual implies that it is DVD-based just like the other Acuras: you need to buy any updates from acuranavi.com.

"Obtaining a Navigation Update Data
Acura is continually expanding the scope of the navigation system. Navigation system software upgrades may be made available periodically, usually in the fall of each year.
To purchase an updated data file:

1. Obtain your vehicle’s VIN number and the System/Device Information.
   System/Device Information P. 212
2. Call the Acura Navigation Disc Fulfilment Center at (888) 549-3798, or order online at www.acuranavi.com.

"Update data is not available from a dealer. However, the dealer may assist you in obtaining an update data for you out of courtesy. There is no program for free updates."

Well, only the first 135 pages deal with operating the Navi system== the rest is for the Audio, Bluetooth, and other Tech Package systems.

It is still a lot to read and digest--I prefer systems that, once you do a few basic familiarization chores, you can operate intuitively. Like Garmin. But, Honda/Acura is still easier than some of the others.

By the way, if you can join MyAcura at Owners.Acura.com you can download PDFs of the 2013 RDX Owner's Manual and Navigation Manual and some quick-start guides for the tech features [ http://owners.acura.com/Model/OwnersManual.aspx ]. I like having the manuals on my iPad in searchable form, really helps find stuff fast (most of the time).
