Hot on Start interior fuse
Hi All, I'm new here to the forums. I did some searching first but couldn't find what I'm looking for. All of the fuses in the interior fuse panel seem to be hot indicating to me that the switch for all of the devices using that panel is located "after" the panel.
I'm looking to add in a radar detector and a dash cam to only be powered when the car is in accessory mode or fully started. I tried 5 different fuses for items that don't power on when the car is off (seat heaters, moonroof, etc) and all are hot (the detector and dashcam power on with the car completely off). Car is a 2016 Acura RDX AWD Base model. Thank you, Danny |
I don't have any RDX specific experience, but in general I've never had any luck using a "tap-a-fuse" type connector for dash cams. I usually run the cord down passenger a-pillar and behind glove box to either the radio power wire or the cigarette/accessory plug.

MODERATOR NOTE: Thread moved to model-specific forum.

Yea, I know what you mean. I have a usb to tap-a-fuse adapter that I can use to help free up my 12v sockets. I have done what you mentioned with my older commuter Civic which is perfect but on the Acura I wanted to keep both sockets free for passenger use or whatever comes up down the road like a portable drink cooler/heater etc.

did you probe all the fuses with a multimeter when you first unlock and enter the car to see if they are indeed 'hot' with the key out? I call this out specifically because i've been seeing a few threads of the car still providing power to some components right after shutting the car off so wanted to make sure you weren't testing at that point.
I've had good luck with add a fuses before but can't speak to it on the RDX either. |
I look to have been mistaken: https://acurazine.com/forums/third-g...on-off-978710/
this was the 3rd Gen RDX issue I was alluding to earlier. |
I am using fuse # 19 ( only ON when car start), but mine is 2015 AWD.

Fuse 19 worked, of course it was one of the ones I never tried in the beginning!
