Hello all, I'm hoping someone here can offer some insight. I purchased a 2016 RDX with the base radio. The sales lit says "SirusXM" radio, which would lead one to believe it can receive the SiruxXM package, which has all channels from both packages.

My RDX has only XM and as luck would have it, the one and only radio station that I listen to almost exclusively 3-5 hours a day in the car is not on XM. Even the Sirius XM website says the 2015 RDX should have XM, but the 2016 is SirusXM.

I'm confused, did I get an early model 2016 that has the old radio? Have others with a 2016 got a radio that has both? Perhaps only with the Technology Package? Or is Acura simply misrepresenting their radio package in their literature?

At the moment I am less than happy with Acura. I called their customer service line several times and did not get a call back, finally got through and they offered me a $100 gift card as consolation. Not much consolation after spending nearly $40k on a car doesn't include what they advertise.

AFAIK, they're all only XM. SiriusXM is the name of the company, it doesn't meant that the radios do both. Sirius and XM used to be different companies but merged. IIRC, when they did, one of the conditions was that they kept the services separate. You can get Sirius or you can get XM, depending on the radio, but not both from the same radio. My truck has a Sirius-only radio but it also says SiriusXM.

Mark, thank you for the reply. SiriusXM actually has a package with the same name, and it includes both Sirius and XM channels. Apparently they use different satellites and completely different technology, so a "SiriusXM" radio would do both, but of course it must have the correct hardware.

I recently rented a 2016 Jetta and it came with both Sirux and XM, and had a large touch screen radio. Kind of sad that in an Acura the latter is an expensive upgrade and the former is not even available. Overall I love the car but that's cheaping out pretty bad for a "luxury" car in 2016 :/
