Xmas tree transport with RDX

I'm thinking about buying a live tree this year. This will be my first time transporting a live tree. Has anyone done it with their RDX? How did you secure it? Would a roof roof rack be helpful? Was there any damage to your vehicle?

thanks!

Yes and yes. Branches will scrape the hell out of your roof. You can always use painter's tape to protect your paint.

That sucks but it's helpful. Did you put a blanket under it?

Anything that moves against the paint will scratch it, which is why the painter's tape works - things rub against the painter's tape but the painter's tape doesn't move against the paint - a blanket would as would anything that flaps against the paint.

Me? I'd borrow my boss' car.

Pay a company to do it, or get a small trailer and it'll save you $XXXX from paint damage or rent a U-Haul trunk and dump it in the bed.. $20 lol

Exactly.

I cannot ever understand people who put a fricken wooden spiney object on top of their car on the exposed paint....

Only if it is tied down with that tight net thing. Otherwise look for holes in the headliner, floor carpet and and scratches on the trim not to mention spines and dust everywhere.

Plastic tree ftw? Lol

ahahah

yes plastic FTW but it has been my experience that trees are tied up so that they do not obstruct your view when on top of car... on a side note bottom end in first :p

Honestly I much prefer the plastic ones because real ones are toxic to most pets.

LOL @ just get a trailer.....what about the wiring? Most places will bag it or put a net around it for you. Then just roll it up in a big blanket and tie it on the roof.

And the blanket will put nice scratches in your paint.

A blanket will not put scratches on your paint. This isn't some $200k Range Rover Autobiography lol...it's just a car. I've hauled plenty of Christmas trees on top of my cars. I put a thin blanket down and then rope down the tree with the roof rails, have never gotten a single scratch or harmed the car from this.
