For 2.5 years our 2018 RDX w/tech pkg has been trouble free, but now it’s a car owners worst nightmare. With recent heavy rain in Southern California, and because of the shelter in place orders, the car is parked in the driveway collecting rain water...ON THE INSIDE! It’s rained a few times since we took delivery, and no issues, but now a small puddle shows up on the floor of the drivers side after a heavy rain. Windows have been closed, no windshield replacement ever, no open sunroof. I’ve taken pics of water dripping from the onboard diagnostic plug-in, and also the fuel door release. The first time it leaked was in a downpour in March and, like this time, it caused electrical issues; horn goes off, warning lights showing open door, and not able to remotely lock the car. Water is coming in from somewhere along the A pillar, but no obvious wet spots on the interior fabric of the headliner, and no drips off the plastic trim. I checked the sunroof drains, and they are clear and drain properly. I sprayed soapy water on the exterior of the A pillar where it meets the roof, used compressed air to pressurize from the inside, and saw a few small soap bubbles. After that, I ran a garden hose over the roof, and gently flowed water across the roof corner at the A pillar for 15 minutes; no leak visible on the interior. I take it to the dealer for a diagnosis and, hopefully, a solid solution to stop the leak. Water into the ECU, or fuse block is very problematic, and the soaked carpet, and padding, set up a perfect place for mildew and mold. With the water damage and stains, I’m going to strongly insist on carpet and pad replacement, not sure yet about the ECU and electrical issues. We’ll see tomorrow. Puddle after 2 days of rain. Dripping down to fuel door lever from A Pillar up above. Dripping off of OBD port.
In the lower corners of the windshield, on the outside, are rubbery L-shaped thingies that may have separated from the windshield / A-pillar or dried up and not making a good seal.
It could be the drain hose for the sunroof is clogged and backing up. I think there is a drain line to the right and left wheel well areas as well as the rear off the car.
UPDATE: dealer called, and said that the windshield was leaking from upper LH corner near A pillar. They removed the windshield, resealed and now we hope for the best. The big concern now is will there be any corrosion at the fuse block considering water did cause some issues while wet. I’ve contacted Acura Motors and opened a case on this issue, and I’m going to ask for an extension on the warranty.
I know you will but keep a close eye on it. What BLEXV6 mentioned above is pretty common and not saying what you dealer is saying is wrong, but time will tell.

Thank you, however with sunroof drain issues, there’s usually a water mark/stain on the headliner somewhere, and there are no stains anywhere. When I performed my own troubleshooting of the leak, prior to going to the dealer, I flowed warm soapy water through the front drains on the sunroof and they were clear. I then used a soapy water solution and compressed air around the A pillar area, and found air bubbles coming from the top of the A pillar where it intersects the roof. Water leaks can be very tricky to trace. Testing this repair may require parking the car in a car wash for 3 days (haha), because I’m in Southern California, and we may not get another heavy rain until next season. I’m asking my Acura case manager for a warranty extension as my 3 year/36K warranty expires in November of this year. Again, thanks for your reply. Stay well. Stay safe.
