Transmission Fluid Change at Honda OK?

Hey,

2014 Tech. I want to get the trans fluid changed. Can i take it to Honda to save a few? Do they use the same fluid? Can i bring my own Acura fluid?

Thanks

If Honda dealer will do it, I would expect the fluids would be similar as the cars are very similar, with some adjustments for slightly altered components.

Honda dealer can do it, the fluids and transmissions are identical. If you want to bring your own, I assume the dealer would accommodate that - you should call them if you're not sure.

it's the same stuff! Make sure they do a drain and refill and don't use a machine to flush the transmission! Machine flush will ruin it!

An Acura is a Honda. In fact, many of the models of Acuras are just Hondas in other countries. The V-6 engine/trans in the RDX is very much the same in a V-6 Accord, a Pilot, A Ridgeline, An Odyssey, and an MDX. Our RDX lives on as the new Passport.

You could buy the fluid and a fresh crush washer and find an independent shop that will allow you to bring your own fluid in. Should be as easy as changing the oil.
Of course the dipstick and fill bolt seem to get deeper and deeper.

when you drain the trans does that drain the transfer case as well? Or is that separate?

No the AWD visions need that other service as well. If the quotes you got included that, then the prices seem OK to me.

ok, just to get this straight. My AWD needs:

1: transmission fluid
2: transfer case fluid
3: rear diff fluid

is that correct?
