Tire siza and availabilty
So what's with this tire size. I had a screw puncture that is not repairable, and with just about a thousand miles, I need to replace a tire. I want the same make and model of tire to match. Now I'm told--by every tire shop I called--that the size (135 60 18) is fairly uncommon, and the model (Michelin Primacy MXM4) is also not too common. Put that together, and it makes it that much harder to find one. This is quite frustrating. My other car is a MINI Cooper, and that one seems to have a tire size that ONLY comes on MINIs. When I tell a tire shop the size, they always know I have a MINI. Next time with that car, we're just going to change the tire size and quit playing these games. So I was quite frustrated to find this same issue with my Acura--although I don't think it's as bad as the MINI. Anyone else had any issues with the tire size or model?
BTW, is there anything special about changing tires with a tire pressure monitor or anything?
Thanks,
Mike

Discount tire has them, too. Are you looking for 135/60/18's as you typed in your post? If that's not a typo and you are trying to find a 135, then that's your problem. The tire width is 235.

Same size tire on our 2010 Volvo XC60; so it's been around for almost 4 years for that model. We had two different Pirelli Scorpions and a very nice GoodYear ComforTred over the life of the XC. The 235 width, that is.

Yes, 235. That was a typo. I didn't mean to imply that the tire was not available at all, but just that no one stocks it. I don't mean the actual shop, but the warehouses they shops normally use to get their tires. So it's gotta come from Michelin directly. Usually, they get tires in a few hours if it's not already in the shop, but this takes 3-5 days. I don't want to drive to and from work on the spare, so I'm stuck renting a car for a few days. By the way, tire rack charges $329 while the price ranged from $233 up to about $270 at the shops. Even the Acura dealer only charges about $240. Thought tire rack would be cheapest. BTW, I ordered mine through Sears as it was cheapest and, allegedly, quickest, but we'll see when it comes in.
