Canadian warranty for USA RDX

No can do !!
We always turn down Canadians for warranty when they come in our service drive. We know we won't get paid on a Canadian VIN number , so we don't do it. We don't care if it is freaking brand new car, go back to Canada for warranty service.

Are you for real? The guy simply asked a question. He may not care for what sounds like your wish.

Uh, I think the poster actually has a US car and is driving to Canada.

Reading comprehension is apparently a lost skill.

MDX07 sounds like a typical dealer response - rude and wrong.

The poster did bring up a good point. While there are reciprocal agreements for emergency repairs, it is unlikely that a Canadian dealer can replace an airbag on a US car and vice versa. Aside from the billing issues, I'm not sure that the parts are identical as some Canadian models have a heated steering wheel.

Accordingly, MDX07 may actually have been right - but for the wrong reasons and in the wrong direction. MDX07 can select from one of the options in my signature to describe himself

The poster appears to be "tourist" in the strict sense of the law. They are going to Canada and intending to return with the car several months later. It depends on what their immigration status in Canada and the US is - but that has nothing to do with warranty.

In short, if you drive as a tourist to another country in North America, Acura will pay for emergency warranty repairs.

Methinks the poster will have to get the recall done in the country where he bought the car, eh?

No, registered in Texas but we drive to Canada for the summer. I tried to contact the "service director" but they, and the "service advisors", seem to change weekly. I did contact the GM via e-mail (brother-in-law of the Car Pro USA guy who has a Saturday talk show in many cities but based in DFW. He was the lead person when I leased my TLX.) I suspect, though, that he'll try and convince me to buy/lease a 2017 RDX instead, which will be a next-to-impossible task with my wife. Anyway, I told him I heard air bag detonators were drifting into dealerships a few at a time and could I get a move-up date to mid-May instead of August. No answer yet.

I'm guessing here, but I think that clickable link that shows the older cars (to 2011) are the ones from last summer's 2015 recall, and the ones below the links are from the 2016 February recall. The 2003 Acura 3.2CL and 2002-2003 Acura 3.2TL may be replacement inflators for defective ones put in those cars in 2010, or another type bag they now include in the new recall. I'm probably wrong though.

Acura
2003 Acura 3.2CL
2002-2003 Acura 3.2TL
2013-2016 Acura ILX
2013-2014 Acura ILX Hybrid
2003-2006 Acura MDX
2007-2016 Acura RDX
2005-2012 Acura RL
2009-2014 Acura TL
2010-2013 Acura ZDX

The TL is on the bottom just above the ZDX.

Here's the memo/email about the Alternative Transportation. It came from Honda. I found this somewhere awhile ago (probably on another part of this board).

It says $35/day for rental, and $40/day for HCVP (courtesy loaner?) This is from February 15th so perhaps things changed since then.

This is also from Honda; doesn't say Acura, but I don't know how they separate the divisions.

They also mention the 30 day return to the dealership for HCVP loaners, but don't mention rental cars. However, I was told by both my Acura Dealer and Enterprise that I had to return the car for an inspection and to receive a new contract.

They are now but at the time I posted that they weren't. They updated the list a few days after I posted. And sure enough, our 2014 is on it now.

"having my passenger sideview mirror motor replaced as it stutters when it goes down."

its the actuator, and been a somewhat common and ongoing acura issue.
we have had a few acuras in the last 20 years ,and most of them seemed to eventually have that problem. i wonder why after all those years honda/acura couldnt reengineer the actuator and finally resolve this issue.

I've noticed the passenger mirror issue a few times too. Today I checked but it worked fine. May be I should mention it to the service advisor as well.

Move the mirror all the way towards the driver, then you can get a nozzle in to spray some WD-40. It will get rid of the "stutters" when the mirror tilts down.

Any chance that may void mirror warranty?

If you are asking about the warranty, I assume your car is still under warranty. Why not just have the mirror fixed as a warranty claim?

If the mirror stutters only when it hits the bottom then perhaps you have it a bit too low in the normal position. The mirror tilts down a certain amount regardless of mirror position. Once it hits the mechanical limit it will stutter.

Try moving the mirror up a bit in the normal position and see if that resolves the problem. I accidentally bumped my mirror adjustment and had the same issue until I moved the adjustment back up a hair.

If that resolves the issue then it is the mechanical limits - not sure if that can be adjusted.

If it stutters all the way down then you need a trip to the dealer.

Do NOT use WD-40. It won't fix either problem and will cause warranty woes.

No airbag parts available for my 2013 RDX here in Southern California yet. Should be a month or so according to the notification I got. If I get killed by the airbag, my wife should be able to get a good multi million dollar settlement from Honda. I bet they are shitting bricks until they get this mess resolved.

Is Acura responsible if they sent a recall and you chose to drive it instead of getting the loaner or rental? In the event of an air bag related death.

Everyone has a responsibility to mitigate damages. While Acura will always remain on the hook because of the defect, they are offering a loaner. If you don't take a loaner, the airbag deploys and decapitates you, then you will be dead but also partially at fault because the manufacturer advised you of the defect and offered an alternative until it was repaired.

I think they are doing Canada last for the RDX (and probably the other) inflators. Apparently heat and humidity are one of the factors that cause the inflator to explode. Meanwhile, drive the loaner/rental.

Got a call from my dealer. My 2015 RDX is getting fixed on Saturday April 30th. I am in PA. I am not sure how I am getting my car fixed so soon though. The enterprise rep said the last they heard most people had a date of autumn, to get theirs fixed. The rep even said, "So who do you know at the dealership that is getting you in so early?" I don't even know anyone. I had a 2015 fully loaded BMW 328i as a loaner for over a month and then a 2016 jeep grand cherokee with 7 miles on it for the last week. The BMW was actually pretty crappy. The Jeep is nice and I kinda wish I wasn't getting my RDX fixed for a few months to put a ton of miles on the Jeep. Oh well. At least I'll have my car back.

Okay guys. Got my RDX airbag replaced today. The entire procedure didn't even take half an hour. Now I feel so relaxed driving my car. I think it even drives better and quieter .
Glad the nightmare is over. One thing I came to know is that only Acura master techs are allowed to replace airbag. I had to skip so many possible dates simply because the master tech was not available during those times. No worries for me now. .

ACR called me again and keep repeating the same old sh*t. I sent a letter to Honda Japan about this recall and they forwarded it to Acura HQ in Torrance. ACR told me to contact my dealer and he said that my dealer will do all the legwork to get me into a rental (lol good luck with that). I've been calling Enterprise and they still don't have anything on their lot except cars no one wants. We don't want to get another a horrible disgusting rental and don't have the time to swap it. I emailed the Service Manager and didn't even get a response from him. So I asked the service advisor and told me that my wife's RDX won't get fixed until June. I ask the ACR if there's a way we can get the fix done to our RDX because that's all I wanted. He didn't even say he'll try to contact my dealer. He just said, there's no timeframe for our RDX when it will get fixed. I told the ACR that they should be the ones talking to the dealer to get us into a decent rental and not us. Horrible Acura client relations service.

I still see a lot of 2nd gen RDX in our area. I guess they also can't get into a decent rental.

It's nice to see that some 2nd gen RDXs here are getting their fix. Hopefully, we won't have to wait any much longer.
