Rust on Brake Rotors
Hi I have a 2014 rdx and It only has around 9000 Kms and I notice that on the rear brake rotor there I rust appearing . Does Warranty cover this, can I get it replaced or removed?

It's just surface rust and as justn said its normal. When you drive and apply the brake it will be removed.

Driving in rain will cause surface rust overnight. It is completely normal. Even high humidity can cause it. There is nothing a dealer can do and even replacement rotors will rust virtually as soon as they are installed.

As others have said here, surface rust is totally normal on rotors. As long as you drive the car once in a while, the pad will clean off the rust and remain operational.

My car also has the same visible rust since I bought it. It cleans itself after a short drive. Somehow I notice it more on this car than the others...???

While I was checking this out today I noticed that the rear wheel has only one rotor whereas the front wheel has two rotors! I guess that's how it's supposed to be in RDX. |

if that's the case, the fronts are designed that way to cool as quickly as possible. |

it's more likely that the rears are made out of cast iron which is more prone to rusting
while the fronts are made out of some type of alloy |

This is what I was referring to. The front ventilated rotors (the first two pictures) look like two separate discs welded together by metal struts whereas the rear is just one disc. Notice the rusted look in and around the rotor area. As you guys already know, this in no way affects the safety or performance of the brakes whatsoever.

Picture of rotor from another car (MB) of similar age and use. The rotors as such look similar but the area in general appear clear of rust.

The outer edge and inner edge can have surface rust. From those photos, the braking surface is clean and shiny and look fine. If the braking surface had rust and corrosion after using the brakes, then you could have a caliper that was "hung up" and not sliding on it's caliper pins.

There's nothing wrong with that. That's pretty much what they look like after about a year of use. Strictly cosmetic.
