Rear Seat Perforations?

So I noticed in the rear seats near where it hinges, there is some fake stitching and an area where there is a gap in the leatherette covering, exposing the foam underneath. Is this normal? I attached a photo to illustrate what I'm talking about.

This is on the far left of the back seat. Then there is another perforation like this near the seat belt buckle in the middle, and the pattern repeats on the right side. So 4 perforations, all exposing the foam underneath like this. So I"m guessing it's normal or they totally screwed up the back seat of my car in the factory. But just wanted to check.

I figured the pic was showing the left side, i just couldnt remember what side my seatbelt buckles were on(in the middle, Justin).. but it looks intentional, because like you said...the pattern repeats itself on the other side..

that little button there, is that showing the fold down seats, or is that showing a baby seat latch!?!?!?

I believe that's the baby seat latch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you hook a baby seat to it, and the baby seat wont come forward in a sudden stop or accident

Reach into the opening and see if you can feel the U shaped latch shown in the image

NOTE the "child in seat" symbol that you have on the button near the openings.

Don't feel bad, I had no idea they were even there until I had a grandchild.

First thing I look for in the back seat of any car, which only happened AFTER being a father.
