RDX Cargo Cover- Recommend or Not?
RDX Cargo Cover- Recommend or Not?
For my new RDX 2015 AWD Tech...anyone have experience with this shade style cover for the cargo area?
I had one in my RAV4 and thought it was a valuable accessory to hide items behind the back seat.
Thanks for any input, positive or negative.

Since I frequently load my 29er bike in the cargo area, a rolled-up cover would just get in my way. I've got a color-coordinated light tarp for the back and use that to hide things. The privacy glass in the back helps quite a bit. If I usually hauled items that would fit under the factory cover I might have sprung for it.
If you used it and needed it on your Rav4, there is a good chance you will get good use in the RDX. The cargo cover accessory supports your lifestyle. I love having the hard cover shelf on my 08 RDX and purchased the cargo cover for my 11 MDX. I need it more to hide stuff in the back for around town or on vacation (out of sight, out of mind).
Mayhaps one of the new 'packages' will include the cover.

Dang...even my Mercury Tracer wagon had a cover included...as well as my Subaru GL, Sable GS, Volvo V70, Volvo XC70, Volvo XC60
Just sayin'
I wonder if it's a replacement piece. The version I have has a slot for pulling it closed. They might have updated the design however. One would think that the cover should come with all of the required hardware.

Not worth it but if you do get one, install it yourself. Instead of waiting 2 hours for the dealership to do it you can do it yourself in about 10-15 minutes.(mine is in my basement-have found it to be more intrusive than anything else.)
Hey Seaman116, I did install it and it took only a couple minutes. Only needed to pop off the two side covers and spring load the shade in.
I like it. For me the privacy cover is useful in hiding miscellaneous stuff like gym bag or store purchases that may entice someone to bust in.

I got a cargo cover for security so that people could not see in the back if i had anything vluable in there.
The thing has not been in the car for over 6 months now.
The rear glass is so heavily tinted that it is hard to see in the back and the thing intrudes too much on cargo space (poor design) that i have given up on it.
Waste of money IMHO. Better of buying beer and drink to forget about it.

Plan on getting a new RDX this week or next. Won't opt for the cover - I've had these in 4 other cars and they spent most of their time in a plastic bag on a shelf in the garage. Always seem to be in the way especially when the rear seats are down.
While I can appreciate everyone's input, lets not forget that what may not be useful to one could be a must for someone else.
For the price, might as well get one and use when required, and put it away when its in the way...that way, you have the best of both world. Sure someone who can afford a 35k vehicle can afford a 135$ item and STILL have money for beer

Just a quick post on this one. I got one for our '13 MDX and it worked out well when traveling and shopping since there was a fairly open space to the windows - even when dark tinted. The amount of space with the 2nd row up on the RDX visible thru the windows is extremely small and I'm not sure what value the cargo cover would offer. On my Tech with the rear speaker pods and the headrests, you can hardly see at all into that rear area - and the window tinting is darker than my MDX so I have a harder time looking in with stuff inside that could be visible (tried a few sample things). Plus, on my MDX, I found that every time I folded the seat down for a larger item I had to remove and somehow store the cover itself. So for me I'm foregoing the cover on the RDX.
