Question about 105k Service

I own an acura RDX 2013 and am familirizing myself with the upcoming services. I know at 105k I need the timing belt, water pump, tensioner etc......

Reading about this on Amazon. Apparently this kit uses the same comapny that makes the OEM honda part.

Amazon Amazon

Anyone have experience with this?

Would also like to get this installed with the service.

Amazon Amazon

Amazon Amazon

How many hours of labor should I expect with this?

The other option was to just go to a honda dealer and have them do the service. I hear Hamilton in NJ is reasonable.

I am in the CT area.

your part list looks great!
Aisin is a major parts maker for a lot of OEM equipment

the timing belt job is abig one! and the prices can range from $400-1200 depending on where you go!
a honda dealership will be on the lower side....
and an indie mechanic can even beat that price

$400-1200 is the range of pricing...
some can get it done for $400....while others have gotten it done for $1200.

I did this service myself.
you WILL have to shop around.

the people that got the service done at honda dealerships for $400 did NOT go by the book for labor.
YOU will have to shop around!!!

it took me maybe 2 weeks to finish the job. and that was my first time doing it.

if you go by the book on labor hours, you will be looking at the high end of the range...$1200, sir.
Shop around.

additionally, there is a dealership up in your area that does it for $375-400.
I live in the South, but I remember multiple threads about a new jersey dealership doing the 105k service for ~$400

there is NOT much extra labor involved doing the tensioner, water pump, thermostat, and spark plugs as when performing the 105k, ALL that stuff needs to come off.

the belt goes through the tensioner...so in order to remove the belt, you need to remove the tensioner

and! in order to put the belt BACK through the old tensioner, you need to compress the hydraulic pin. which would need a press.

a new tensioner has the pin compressed already...and then you just pull the latch like a gernade to set the tension

Glad you able to get some answers!!

I'm going to move this to the RDX model forum in case other RDX owners have anything to add.

Agree. I am at work though, also my car only has 80k miles on it. Just figuring out what it takes to have my car for the long haul.

Next obstacle up is trying to get warrantied on some Pirellis that said 65k warranty that I purchased at Tire rack and am at 4/32 with only 35k miles on them. I didn't get them rotated at 3-5k like they suggest but at 15k service.

Anyone have experience with that?

I would say you have virtually no chance of getting anything with a 15k rotation schedule. Won't hurt to ask. though. I would contact Pirelli directly.

To me, it's worth the money to pay someone to do it properly. The dealer is familiar with this service and would pay the extra to get it done properly.
