Purchase used 2017 vs. 2018 vs. 2019 suggestions
I have thoroughly enjoyed my 2G 2011 Acura RDX for over 8 years now (really love the V4 Turbo!). However, on my last service, it seems the Turbo sensor has gone bad, and there is a small oil leak in the Turbo. So I'm in the market for getting another used RDX, preferably between the years 2017-2019. Would love to hear any thoughts about comparisons between these years, and thoughts about the performance of the V6 engine. Thanks for any comments!

Have you test driven the 2nd and 3rd Gen RDX yet? The 17-18 RDX is closer to a 14-15 fwd MDX without the 3rd row option. I would include the 14-15 MDX tech/Adv with sh-awd as an option if you decide to stick with the 17-18 RDX. The 17-18 RDX & 14-15 MDX will have similar performance, handling, and mpgs with the MDX doing a tick better overall. The +19 RDX would be the direct replacement for the 1st Gen RDX in power, handling, sh-awd, turbo performance, and if you prefer a sporty CUV.

I own a 17 RDX. A few years back I had it serviced and the dealership gave me a 20 RDX. Have to say that the 17 RDX is MUCH more comfortable and the V6 is much more powerful. The 19 RDX would offer you much more in terms of technology, but hands down, the 17 offers a much better ride.

The 2017-2018 were the last two years of the second generation RDXs. They maintain the V6 motor + 6 speed transmission and are generally good with a select amount of flaws. The 2019 model year was the beginning of the third generation RDX, which should be avoided due to the bugs and flaws with things like the rear windshield blowing apart randomly among other things. They also switched to the turbo 4 cylinder motor and 10 speed transmission on the 2019+ cars. Honestly it's more so if you want the newer tech on the 2019+ models or the older and slightly dated tech on the 2017-2018 models.

Based on info from Acura tech, if you decided to purchase 3 generation RDX, stay away from 2019 and 2020 models. These years RDX-s were plagued by multiple problems that were more or less resolved later, especially in 2022 and up.
