Noisy rear suspension

Have just over 100 miles on a '16 and the rear suspension is very noisy over certain type bumps.
Brought the RDX in this morning to service and was told it's normal.
I've accepted the few other things that I don't like about the vehicle but this is tougher to accept.
Oh well.

Or is it more like a hollow thumping sound?

Actually sounds like both with a something loose type of sound over harder bumps.
Seems like it's worse on the rear passenger side.
I lowered the air pressure 2 lbs front and back (33-31) to see if that helps a bit.
Service found nothing of course.
I asked about the '13's rear suspension issues and was told it was fixed.

It's only loud on big bumps.
More deep like bumps like deep manhole covers, pot holes. Not bad on just rough road smaller bumps.Even washboard types.

The redesigned shock mounts should have taken care of this but evidently the problem persists.
Honda should take a look at how the competition does things.
They don't have these shock chuckle/rattle/resonance issues.

The MDX 3G owners have similar complaints. WTF Acura?

Drove a few '15 loaners and heard the noise. At a little over 2000 mi mine is dead quiet. Ride\Steering is also noticeable improved that's why I went with it. The only problem I have with it is the lousy gas mileage and stupidly small gas tank...

My 16 Tech has about 3200 on it now. And in the last month or two I've been hearing a looseness in the rear. I think its the passenger side too.

If it goes to an Acura dealer before lease end I'll have them look at it.

Please get it checked out by dealer. As mentioned by others before this should be replaced under warranty. I had mine replaced a few months ago for the same issue. Mine is a 2014 model.

I recall I read in one of the treads someone had mentioned the noise comes from the spare tire area. When hitting a bump the cover lifts and bangs down. Try to put something heavy on it and see if the noise still there.

That is what I did when mine started clunking. I searched and searched and couldn't find the noise. I went to Wal-Mart and bought some cheap blankets and padded the entire spare tire area - actually pretty much stuffed it full of blankets - and that took care of my noise.

Lol at stuffing blankets in the trunk to subdue noise in a potentially $52k vehicle (here in Canada)....

After years of Acura not taking care of the issue I had to do something on my own And I think responding to this may have sabotaged me. This morning when I was driving I made a right turn to merge onto a new road and sure as krap I heard a clunking sound from the rear passenger side. The blankets have only been in for a few weeks so perhaps I didn't solve anything.

Murphy's law. Happens when you don't want it and doesn't when you do lol. I totally get where you are coming from though and honestly quite sad. It isn't a "HUGE" issue like you see in the Germans. But it is very unacceptable honestly.
