Nicks (pits) in headlight covers
I have some pits in my headlight covers on my 2016 RDX. I assume they came from small rocks from the road. Can a good body shop do anything to fix this?
Thanks.

You could find a place in town that does headlight restore that were damaged by UV hazing to see if that would smooth out the pitting. The buffing process will reduce the UV protection on the HIDs and you might start to get hazing after a while. Applying a clear bra with UV protection will prevent pitting and protect against UV hazing down the road. I used 3M clear bra on my headliights and fogs (along with front end, fenders, and side mirrors). My 06 TSX, 08 RDX, and 11 MDX with +435,000 miles between them in the southwest with hwy speeds up to 80-90 mph all are pit and UV haze free with the 3M clear bra.

Advanced
Pick up a headlight restoration kit with wet sanding tools, usually they come with 1000 and 3000 grit sandpaper. Very simple to use, and will give you noticeable improvement. Then apply a clear bra. 3M makes a great product, I picked up the headlight clear bra kit from weatherTech, and that works great too.

I would make sure it has UV protection with any clear bar you decide to purchase. Some clear bra materials are self healing. If you get pitting or even a scratch, just let it sit in the sun, and the clear bra will heal it self back smooth again. I don't notice or feel any pitting or scratches on the 3M product. Only works for small pits and scratches. I have a few rock strikes that dented the hood under the clear bra.
