Hi,
Just joined this forum and here is the story:
my wife had 12 years old Subaru Forester with 170K miles on it. Great car (especially on snow here in New England). However it was time... She wanted something similar (or slightly bigger) in size and more upscale if you will .
So we test drove several contenders: BMW X3, Infiniti EX37, Subaru Outback 3.5R Limited and 2013 RDX.
Beemer: not bad, but a bit underpowered with base 2.8 trim. And if you start adding colors and options price quickly gets well over 40 grand. Yikes!
Infiniti: plenty of power and then some! Base model has pretty much everything you need. But for some reason my better half decided that it just looks ugly without roof rails. And rails go with Journey trim, so it brings price again over 40 grand. Plus an unusual shape somehow limits cargo capacity.
Subaru: we both are long time Subaru fans and had great experience with the brand and our local dealership. However loaded with everything Outback costs about the same as Acura, but doesn't give you even a hint of luxury.
So here comes RDX. After several visits to the dealership we finally pulled a trigger and purchased 2013 RDX AWD base.
Has everything my wife wants, looks great (IMHO) and from 30 minutes I spent behind the wheel it feels just right!
Total price out of the door (6.35% sales tax, dealer fees, destination and DMV fees) was $36,250 after the trade.
Maybe some day my beloved wife will let me take her new RDX for a spin, but as of now she feels happy so am I.
Looking forward to be a part of this community.
Cheers
Vlad

I guess I'm glad there's not some yucky base engine model of the RDX. Folks deserve a little pep in their step! Let Subaru keep offering minimally powered engines for those who 'want' them.
Welcome aboard!

Well, congrats! Welcome. Give your wife some TLC and your waiting time to take the RDX for a spin might be much shorter than you think :0).
One quick question though, if I may, you said:
"Total price out of the door (6.35% sales tax, dealer fees, destination and DMV fees) was $36,250 after the trade"
You don't mean you gave the dealer your Subbie + $36250.00 for the 2013 RDX AWD (no Tech package), do you?
Thanks.
