Hi Guys:

I drove my friends 2008 RDX and i like it a lot, so i looked and found a 2018 RDX in what it seems a good shape, it has 88000 Km on it and so far all services done at the dealership, interiors look pretty cleand, drives well, no noises and it seems they took good care of it. Ive been reading posts and all i can find and so far it seems a good buy, but i was reading about the timing belt and the 100000 service, and they quoted me something in the 1200-1500 USD ( this is in Mexico City) ballpark, so i have some questions for you cause im not sure about it.

First of all ive read the TB should be changed at 105000 miles ( around 160000 km) so why are they thinking of changing it ?

Second is the cost, ive searched and the Aisin TKH-002 Kit is in the 200-300 USD range, so 1000 bucks for labor seems like a rip off, the only advantage of this is to keep the service record at the dealership and maybe keep some resale value out of it.

So whats your thougths? ive reached some local repairshops and they told the labor for this TB change with the water pump will be something like 150-250 USD which seems pretty reasonable.
