Early oil service for RDX?

Early oil service for RDX?
Been enjoying the RDX for about 6 months but haven't put too many miles on it so far. The oil life indicator is still at about 60%.
Any thoughts on whether I should bring it in for an early oil change or just follow the service indicator?
I'm not car expert, but does the oil get stale and can it damage your engine if you don't change it?

It's recommended to follow your service indicator. The factory fill has additives to help break in your engine and you don't want to change it too early. It should notify you around the 10-15% mark. Even at that point, your oil should still last another 1,000 miles.
Your oil would not damage your engine unless it starts turning into sludge, which is very difficult to do. I've seen an individually who missed their oil change by 50,000 miles. The oil was the texture of crayon, but the car still ran until it finally died.

My RDX is around 10 months old now and the new break in oil has not been changed yet. I will change the oil when I hit the one year mark though.
I believe that gas accumilation sitting in the oil, breaks down the lube properties of the oil. Short 5 to 15 minutes run will build the accumulation, then every week or two week period run the car for at least 20 minutes on the freeway at 55+ brings the engine temp up to a point that the accumilated gas in the oil will burn off.

follow the MID or one year whichever comes first (per OM). you'll be fine. the MID tends to be fairly conservative with the oil life indicator. you can anywhere from 4k miles to 8500 miles per OCI depending on how the car is driven. once you've gotten a couple of oil changes done, you'll know when the next ones will be give or take 500 miles. your MID will take care of you.
