Do you use regular gas(#87) to fill up 2016+ Acura Rdx?

So if I can get 469 miles on one fill-up on regular, what do you think I will get on premium? More, or less?
What is your back ground by the way?

So far, nobody in discussion provided an explanation why do some believe that regular gas will give you better MPG vs premium one. It is silly statement like “I got 469 miles on one fill-up”, so this is it. So what? How do you know that your neighbor (or whoever) with identical RDX does not get 480 miles on full tank with premium?
If someone wants to prove/explain why regular gas will offer better MPG vs premium one, considering that both have at a minimum 99% of the same base gasoline, I am standing on position that both will give the same MPG. Case closed.
Incidentally, if I say I worked for Shell would change anything in our discussion? And why? What difference does a personal professional experience make with hard core facts? Cheers.

No, not case closed. You sure drank that KoolAid, but it ain't washing with folks who have any education on combustion science. Let's just use your argument of 1% additives as a given; what you don't seem to understand is the higher octane fuel has different burn characteristics compared to lower octane fuels, so not only does Premium have less energy per unit, the slower burn also impacts fuel economy. As I wrote many posts back, the difference is negligible, but it is there, and it is measurable. Please do us all a favor and lose the case closed rhetoric, we can agree to disagree, but this is far from case closed..

If I ever say that premium offers better MPG, that ONLY would be in case if your car engine REQUIRES premium, not RECOMENDS it. Do you have a link to a post with different statement that I did? Show it, or stop twisting facts.

Firstly, explain how “does Premium have less energy per unit” as the same base gasoline is used for premium and regular, and additives cannot exceed 1%. Do your explanation and once we clear this path, we can move on minutia like burn rate, etc.
Oh, the last thing here: Try to stay away from personal attacks. As they say, if you cannot argue with facts, attack the messenger.

Sorry, at this point I don't believe you're interested in the facts, you just want to push your agenda, I'm done here.

I know for a fact that if I put Premium in my RDX, I would be wasting $8 per fill-up and not gaining ANYTHING.
As for additivies, strange that my 24 year old Honda CR-V that ran on nothing but regular which has been in the hands of a friend for the last 10 years with over 205,000 miles on it still has the original fuel pump, the same injectors and the engine has never been opened up. Damn, no additives and none required.
And by the way, I am pretty good at taking measurements having worked in the field.

Quite opposite: It is you, who is not interested in facts and just pushing your agenda. I repeatedly asked you to state the facts and data to support your position, proving just one piece of data, and you never did. So be it. The forum is where people sharing ideas and helping each other. Your misleading others with your statements. This is not fair nor good. Case closed and I am also done here.

Ok folks you want the facts, here they are:
- Do i use premium gasoline on my RDX: hell NO
- Does my car run any different because of that: Hmm, NO
- is there detonation/pre-ignition because of that: Never heard any for the last 10 years.
- Did i lose some performance because of that: Nah.!, even if i did, i couldn't care less since i am not racing with my RDX 😅
- Did i save money on gas for the last 10 years.: OH YEAH BABY!
- Just because i bought a semi-luxury CUV do i need to spend more on premium gasoline: NOPE, not a chance
- For how long will i be able to use my car: Another 5 years if not more.
Now gentlemen, this case is really CLOSED. (For me anyway )

I just filled up yesterday with E15 gas at my local Sheetz (88 octane). Price was $1.99 per gallon. It's only the 3rd time I've used E15 since I owned my RDX. I haven't noticed any difference.

Locally in SE Massachusetts, the lowest I’ve found is $3.09/gallon.

Every few months around major holidays, Sheetz and Rutter will put E15 gas on sale. This time the price was $1.99, which was the lowest they every had E15 gas. I normally use 87 octane but couldn't pass on this price. 87 octane is $3.39 (PA has the highest gas tax to fix the roads and bridges)

We drove a decent amount over thanksgiving, there were some significant hills in west virginia, but overall I think we ended up with 26.5mpg average over about 300 miles driven. 93 octane premium, 130k on the car. If any of that info is worth anything.

LOL, you did way better than me. My wife and I drove my Tacoma from New England to the DC Metro area over Thanksgiving logging just over 1,200 miles in the process; my fuel economy average was 20.2, but that included a LOT of bumper to bumper traffic. On our way home on Saturday the ~490 mile trip took a whopping 12 hours!
