Coolant leak with my 2017 RDX Advance, repaired under warranty

Hi guys: Just want to share a story with you. Last Thursday morning, I saw a patch of coolant on the floor inside our garage after my wife left for work. It was not much (I am not able to upload picture at this time, maybe later). I drive to the parking lot to check on her car. There was no coolant left in the coolant reservoir in the RDX. Since there is no sign of overheating (light was not on), I refilled the coolant to the max and drove to local Acura dealer (10 min drive). They told me they found the leak at a hose connection on the back of the engine. it was repaired yesterday. Did any of you experience this? I only have 17k miles on it so far. Our RDX looks like new and I wish it did not cause any damage to it.

did you buy the car new?
did you have any mechanical work done prior to finding the coolant on the floor?

I wouldn't worry about it too much, just keep an eye on the floor and maybe the engine bay every once in a while. It sounds like you caught it before enough coolant leaked to do any damage.

Thanks! That's what I hope for since I caught it early.

Heater hoses run in back of the engine going thru the firewall to the heater core.

Thanks Dave! Do you have a diagram of the hose connection from back of the engine? There is no more leak since the repair. However, I did add
some coolant today. I will keep an eye on it. The engine oil level is normal.

Looks like I spoke too soon because last week I said you'd never find a coolant leak on my Acura or my previous Honda, or Toyota. Guess I was wrong.

My Porsche 991 GTS has an intermittent coolant leak (which I find puzzling) and at a mere ~3000 miles. And sure enough, I could find enough coolant leak cases at that location on the net happening at that mileage. Really guys (engineers), we have all this high tech, O-rings come in certain cross sections, all you need to do is mold a channel of the appropriate size in that black plastic pipe. And what are we dealing with...15 psi roughly.

Not my pic, but the same leak coming from that black plastic pipe. Luckily it has a CPO warranty although not a big deal since it is the O-ring and possibly the pipe. Other than that, a great car. Luckily I still have my "air cooled" 911 (993).

Hello Hongthan

I uploaded the cooling diagrams to the manual request sticky thread so it becomes visible for all people to find easier.

Thanks, Dave! I am checking on the coolant level this week. I will give an update if there is still coolant loss.
