can I leave music flash drive in USB slot?
Hi,
Is there any downside to simply leaving my music flash drive in the USB slot? Except when I want to add new music to the flash drive, can I just leave it connected to the USB slot for months at a time? Is this bad in any way for the flash drive or for the RDX? Or is it best to unplug the flash drive after each use?
Thanks,
Gregg

I leave a 3rd gen ipod nano plugged in without any problem. Every now and then I take it to the gym, and the battery life is still excellent for a 6yo device.

I agree...I leave my USB stick plugged in all the time too (unless I need to upload more country twang to it).....I feel this is better than unplugging and plugging every day...less wear on the connector in my opinion.

I purchased a 64GB flash drive and I just copy/paste my entire iTunes library on it. I just leave the flash drive plugged in 24/7. The direct USB connection sounds better to me compared to streaming bluetooth audio feature. I just set the USB for random play if I am not in the mood for XM, internet radio or FM.

I just plugged in a USB stick with approx 500 folders on it into the USB cable (all mp3 files). It plays fine but the navigation sucks. When you go back to folders it always goes back to folder 1 which means that you have to scroll a lot to get back to folder 483. My first comment for whoever wrote this lousy navigation tool is why did you not include wrapping so that from folder 1 you can navigate up to the end folder (folder 500 in my case). Second, why when you are playing a track in folder 436, for example, does it not navigate to folder 436 when you go back to folders (ie up one level) instead of going back to folder 1.
Second, the arrangement of the tracks in the folder is messed up. When I rip mp3's I embed the track number in the file according to standards, and embed the track number as the first part of the file name. Acura seems to ignore both and order the tracks according to something else. For reference they display and play in the correct order on the music player on my Android phone.
Third, I tried the voice navigation and it basically is a non starter. I tried with voice dialing too and had the same result.
As a person who has written a ton of embedded software, this is not rocket science. A company of the size of Acura should be able to hire 2 engineers to take care of this. Perhaps they need to fire their current engineers and go poach a couple from Apple or Samsung. If I was on the Board I would handicap the complete Acura engineering group such that they can only use mobile phones and listen to music through the RDX audio interface. Perhaps after a day they might do something about this.

Is there any way to navigate through all the XM radio stations using the wheel control, rather than the up/down tune button?

I was wondering if you can easily browse to an artist using the controls if you are listening to something on your iPod. I wanted to listen to an artist whose name started with a "W" and I had to scroll through hundreds of artists to get there.

This is a great question OP asked. I always wondered the same thing if I can leave it in USB slot. Thanks
