At the Acura dealer this morning

The wife picked up a nail in the rear tire of the RDX and my tire insurance just got me tire #2.

While there I looked at the new generation TLX A Spec.
Very, very nice!
Though, like the new Accord, I find the center console boring and kind of cheap looking.Just something about the push button shifting and cup holder look.
The Sport seats were very comfortable.

I was talking to my salesman and the GM and was told that Acura will be keeping the V6.

While I am sure they are nice enough chaps, I don't think they can confidently speak to that.

I think it's logical the 1.5t will replace the 2.4l and the V6 will still be available in the other models.
Acura is tier 2 luxury and the V6 works.
Do you think the new gen RDX will get the 2.0L?
Maybe and if it does, no more RDX for me.
The V6 was the main reason why I chose the RDX.

Logic is the name the game here. The RDX and Accord are built in two different factories in Ohio. They share an engine plant in between. As the new Accord will have 1.5T and 2.0T motors and no more V6 it makes sense the RDX will get the 2.0T as it is the top range for the new Accord(just as the V6 was the top range in the previous gen Accord). Sure, it is possible they will either add production of the DI V6 at the engine plant, or keep the old V6, but this seems very unlikely. I would never take what the dealership tells you with any authority. Personally I would be thrilled if the new RDX kept the V6, but I seriously doubt it. I won't be getting another Acura next time around no matter what they do with the new RDX anyway.

IF acura keeps the V6 in the RDX I hope they upgrade to the V6 that has been in the accord since 2013.

I thought it was the same V6.
Though my Accord V6 seems more buttery smooth than the RDX but I felt maybe the difference is due to AWD drivetrain set up..
I will say the MPGs are much better in the Accord.Actually unbelievable highway MPGs.

Honda has used its "earth dreams" V6 in the accord since 2013. Acura is usually a few years behind the honda line when it comes to technology. Take a look at the new civic (or 2015-2018 civic) or the new accord. The technology in those cars is more advanced than the RDX.

Interesting.
I thought earth dreams was more gimmick than anything much different.
I have a '17 earth dreams.

Earth dreams = Direct Injection.
non-Earth dreams = Port injection

so, no...not a gimmick

I have a '17 Ridgeline with the Earthdreams, and the '17 RDX Advance. Although both engines are excellent, you can tell that the Earthdreams engine is slightly smoother and a touch quieter. It also reacts to the throttle slightly faster.

In studying this further the Accord V6 is said to use a DI motor in some places (which is strange as the "specs" page on the Honda.com website shows "direct injection" for all the 4 cylinder Accords and "multi-point" for the V6 model) https://automobiles.honda.com/accord...specifications ). The power output is the same as the port injected RDX motor (ie lower torque vs the DI motors in the RL and Pilot). Not sure why Honda would do this when they have the other more powerful motor available.
