A1 Service

So over the weekend A1 code popped up with 4600+ miles on the car. I know is due to needed oil change. Looking at the dealer website, they want $180 for A1 service which most of it "check this , check that". What do you folks do for A1 ... simply $35 oil change ? If only oil change is done, will the A1 code go away ? Will tech reset it ?

I paid $52 for oil change, rotation, and car wash at the dealer. You can also check with Honda dealers as they probably will charge less for the service.

ask for oil change and tire rotation, tech will reset your MID for you. price shoud be around $70 (max) for the two items, unless you ask for synthetic oil...then it'll be around $100-ish. honda dealer might charge less. also check your dealer's website for service coupons. if you check your owner's manual....for the A and the 1...literally it's just the oil change and tire rotation. my dealer gives courtesy inspections which covers many of the items under the "B" as well.

$180 sounds really high. See if you can actually get them to put what's included in writing.

^^it's a matter of how you ask for the service. A1 or oil change and tire rotation. it's the same thing. going rate for A service at my dealer is around $110-120 add $30 for the tire rotation. $180 is usually the rate for the B service.

I don't know what kind of driving you do, but IMHO 4600 miles sounds a bit early to receive a service message.

I was well over 5000 miles when I took mine in for its first oil change last week - never having received a code. In fact, I think the maintenance display indicated 60% oil life remaining.

BTW, my first oil change was free.

Thanks. Dropped off the car, oil+tire is $70. Took it to a different dealer than car came from so it was not free. Wasting half a day and driving in heavy traffic was not worth for me to save $70...

Miss going to the dealer in Pa for service. When I used to talk to my friend, who was the service manager, to make arrangement for service when I was in the area I would give him the code. He would then just give me the appropriate service. So if it were a-1 he would write oil change, tire rotation/balance. Of course I was given very good discounts.
