2018 Acura RDX Powertrain?

I suspect that will be the case, for those of us hoping for a theoretical "sport" upgrade like you described. Acura does not seem interested in that niche with their vehicles anymore, aka the Type S or R.

According to information provided here on Acurazine, the engine to be offered in the next generation RDX will be a 2.0-liter direct-injection turbo-four tuned to deliver torque at very low RPMs. It will be paired with a new 10-speed automatic. This engine is found in the 2017 Civic Type R and is rated at 300+ hp. This is the same engine that will be found in the 2018 Honda Accord replacing the V6 option.
There - this is settled!! :-)

I was reading an article about the new generation Honda Accord which is due to be released July 14. This article stated that the 3.5 V6 would no longer be available in the Accord sedan or coupe. Replacing this engine would be the Civic Type R (?) engine which is rated at 316 hp, however it would be detuned to about 276 hp for the Accord. If the 3.5 V6 engine is dropped from the 3rd generation RDX, this is probably the engine which will replace it.
