2018 Acura RDX Advanced Pkg - Key FOB

I just purchased a 2018 RDX advanced and received only one key fob with a engine start (driver 1) and the other without (driver 2). Wondering if that how it comes or should I have received the engine start fob for driver 2 also. Anyone have a clue? Thanks!

Correct. The engine start feature is only on key fob (driver 1). I just used mine yesterday in the New England snow.

In Canada both fobs are fully equipped.

Yes, Same with our 2017 Advance. Sort of silly. Our MDX Advance came with two remote start remotes.

I think we should all go up there and buy Canadian models. I don't "get" why Acura makes the distinction.

Well if I obtained the correct pricing information from the Acura.ca and Acura.com web sites, an AWD Advanced model in the US cost $44,995 (USD) with destination charge.

In Canada the AWD (all we can get) Elite costs $49,562.50 (CDN) with freight and PDI charges. But if you convert that to USD, it is $38,544,76 USD.

So if you did come to Canada you could save $6450.24 USD or $8,293.27 CDN.

Of course we pay an additional $6,443,12 CDN in taxes.

Someone should check these numbers because in years past, the cost of US cars was always cheaper than Canada.

Interesting - my 2017 MDX Tech had 2 key fobs that both have the remote start button - US model....

The MDX is the highest level so it should have more for the money. Acura obviously cuts corners on the US RDX (no rear heated seats, no power folding mirrors, no second remote key fob) vs its Canadian counterpart. It seems Honda does this on other cars as well (no panoramic S/R on CR-V in the US, but it is offered in Canada)

That's odd. Purchased the Remote Starter Kit for my wife's 2017 RDX Tech and the Acura dealer that did the install gave us 2 Engine start fobs - Driver 1 & 2. So now we have a total of 4 FOBs :).

My fellow ex-pat, a cousin in LA and dual citizen, tried to purchase a truck in Canada for summer use but was told he'd need to give up his California license for an Ontario one. Several dealers up there tried really hard to work around this but couldn't. We had also thought of buying a car for summer use and just parking it for the winter when we're in Texas. No go.

I'm not sure Honda Canada / America would take too kindly to any dealer that facilitated the purchase and export of a car. Besides, isn't there a 25-year rule on imports in the U.S.?

On remote starts, shouldn't you just drive it as soon as you start it and not wait for it to warm up? Idling is hard on a car and does little for the transmission anyway. With heated seats and steering wheel, the only excuse to wait might be frost or fog on the windshield. (Memories of all the POSs I drove in the '70s and '80s with their thick hyde-of-the-Nauga seats and me in polyester pants...)
