2015 RDX AWD Tech Liftgate Stop

Today I joined the club and picked up my 2015 WPM AWD W/Tech RDX.
It seems that the power liftgate opens high enough to just touch my garage door when open. Is there anyway to adjust the stop to lessen it by an inch or so?

Thanks,

MacNH

That would happen to me if I drove in normally,it's such tight quarters. If back it in,so then it's past where the door is.That's what I do.I don't think Acura would want it adjustable,as then maybe some taller person could hit there head on the door edge.Just my guess..

If backing in is too much of a problem, paste a long strip of memory foam or some other foam on the garage door where it touches so you don't damage the lift gate.

I had to adjust the upper limit of travel on my garage door to keep the tailgate from hitting it. No problems now.

Why not just back into the garage? At some point you have to drive in reverse, either leaving or arriving.

Then you are limited by the depth of the space and opening the liftgate may be impossible...as in our garage space.

If I pull as far forward as possible, our hatch doesn't hit the garage door; but then I have to snuggle behind the vehicle to walk to the exit in FRONT of the RDX.

A swim noodle section may be your friend...either attached to the garage door panel or kept 'loose' inside the hatch and put in place as needed.

This is TEXAS...what if I had a big ole PICK UP???

I do not understand what you did to your garage door. Can you explain please...

You may be able to adjust the 'stop' and allow your door to travel farther along the track, making it almost fully horizontal rather than having the bottom panel at a downward angle when open. Worth a shot; but ours is still angled enough to impact the hatch when it opens.

Depends on the garage door, but on our opener there is a limit switch that controls where the garage door stops. You move that limit switch fore or back along the metal beam to control when the door stops opening.

I found out yesterday, that on the way down, if the hatch hits something it will stop and reverse. Never mind how I learned this.... Go to your room!
