I think it looks pretty good. We just traded in our 2010 RDX that had 20x8.5 +35mm offset for a new 2015 RDX awd/tech. It rode great, although the first gens did have a harsher ride. Anyhow, we will be going with the size and spec wheels on the the new one with a 245/45 tire.

This might sound like a dumb question..but when the larger wheels are put on,does that mess the speedo calibration?
Also,is the ride harsher with the low profile rubber?
Thanks,
Steve

I believe if you increase the outer diameter it will mess with the speedo / odometer calibration. If you increase the rim / alloy diameter but make the rubber low profile so that outer diameter remains the same as original, it should not affect any calibrations but may give you a much harsher ride (but look really cool)!!!

Steve,
Not if the correct aspect ratio is chosen to match the larger rim. In other words the tire diameter remains the same but it will have less sidewall. It will ride like a chuck wagon with 22" wheels. 19" wheels would be about as large as you'd want to go without sacrificing too much ride comfort.

Average price of stock size tire - $159 ea. Plus two size(20") of same brand and make - $196 ea. Plus four(22") would be rather pricey only due to the limited availability of tires in that size. Unsprung weight in this type of vehicle is a non-issue as this isn't a sports car, coupe or sedan. Most SUV/CUV's made today come with 20" wheels rolling stock. Wish ours had.

True, but I doubt anyone will be dragging, tracking or auto-crossing this behemoth. The only ill effects I noticed on the previous gen RDX with plus two sized wheels/tires was a slight tramlining on uneven roads and a slight increase in road noise. 0-60 was the same as was gas mileage. This was of course before the Hondata reflash. After, it was a whole new beast

On our first gen. RDX, both on paper and the on-board computer showed no decrease in MPG's. I'm sure acceleration was affected however. When I added the Hondata Reflash, MPG's went up, acceleration went up and overall HP went up.

It's not minor. Seems like it is since it's only 5-10 pounds, how much could that matter right? The thing is, suspensions, shocks, brakes, everything that steers and stops is engineered in with the existing 18" wheels in mind. Unsprung weight adds some inertia, makes the steering less responsive, and absolutely means a slower car - it has to, physics and all. I get folks like the look, but you can't say it has no impact.

Don't you wish we didn't have that gadawful front plate here in Texas? Silly state we live in. Wish Rick could get rid of those on his way out...
