2014 roof - canoe support
Has anyone traveled with a canoe on top of their RDX? It looks to me like the roof is just too short (front to back) to provide adequate support using the typical 4 foam support blocks you can buy ...any feedback would be appreciated. Are there any aftermarket rails which attach to the factory rails and run across the vehicle from one side to the other?

I assume my rails are factory-installed. The previous owner is not the kinda guy that would have put them on after the fact.
I now see there are cross rails available from Acura.

Look on sites like CraigsList as many people sell their roof racks and accessories after they get out of some sports.

Yup, my dealer records show rails were installed at dealer, when the vehicle was being prepped for initial sale. List price P&L was $708 Canadian. Even with the cross rails I don't think it will be wide enough for a canoe.

I have Yakima cross bars. The round crossbars come in different lengths from 48" to 86". The bars sit above the side rails. How wide do you need?

Thats good to know., thanks....I had been looking at the Thule page and that wasn't the case. Their cross rails appear to go between the roof rails, and they have canoe support pads that clamp onto the Thule or factory cross bars. So I thoroughly checked the Yakima website, but it doesn't answer this question: Do their cross bars attach to the factory roof rails?
