2014 RDX Transmission pan strainer/filter change
Hi all
First post on this sub. Just bought a 2014 RDX base 4WD with 97k miles on it. Want to do a thorough trans service and change out the fluid, the in-line filter, as well as the pan filter. However, I'm having trouble finding videos/service instructions on how to do the pan filter. Does anyone have any experience they want to share/point me to some online resources? Thanks in advance!

There is no point in replacing this strainer and in order to change it you need to remove the automatic transmission and completely disassemble it.
You need to change the filter that is on the outside, not the strainer that is on the inside.

Burning Brakes
Are you experiencing any adverse behaviour from the trans? What's the current condition of the fluid?
In addition to what altair said, you're better off rebuilding the trans while you have it out.
If you just do a 3x3 drain and fill, and change that inline filter, you ought to be in good shape. Unless you're having issues. Then you could look into changing pressure switches, depending on your symptoms.

This is just such a design, there is nothing wrong with that, because the strainer is clogged only with large pieces that appear as a result of the destruction of the transmission elements, which means that the strainer has a lifetime and does not require replacement.
