2013 RDX - power rear hatch won't open

2013 RDX's rear hatch won't power open when either the dash button or the one on the hatch is pressed. I see there is a 40A fuse in the #1 spot in the fuse box that's under the hood, but it's not obvious how to open the long cover for that slot that seems to have a number of fuses under it. Do I unscrew the philips head screw that may hold down the cover? Anything else to check? thx

Update - I was able to check the fuse and it's fine. What else could be the problem?

Do you have a Tech package?? The button on the hatch does not open the hatch, but unlocks it.

Good question and I have no idea! The car was my late father-in-laws. I will try to find out.

Do you have a color display with navigation?

Did some more digging - when I push and hold the lift gate button on the remote, it will open and close under power. But pushing the button on the dash or on the life gate does not get it to open. The button on the gate will make it close though...

The doors have to be unlocked to open the hatch from inside the car with the button if I'm not mistaken.

To clarify further, all 4 doors have to be unlocked for the dash button to work, not just the driver's door.

Well it's working! it was that and/or I figured that you don't just push the dash button, you have to hold it down for a few seconds. All good - thanks!

Yup you do have to hold the button down for a few seconds, in addition to having all the doors unlocked.

These cars can be pretty complex! You and your daughter might want to download the appropriate owner’s manual. They are available at no charge on line just Google the model year and model. For my car for instance I would simply google 2022 RDX owners manual. I keep an electronic copy on my iPad as it is searchable.
