2013 AWD Base - Tires

What do you like as your quietest tire?

I know there are so many factors: speed, driving style, conditions of daily routes. One of my friends told me his studded snow tires were quiet, then I realized he always had his music on loud. Don't know how to process his experience, but okay.

Anyway. My car came with brand new Yokohamas...and they're already about 4k till water skis. Since I'm going on a long, summer road trip, I thought I'd change them out now. I've come down to the following:

Continental TrueContact
Goodyear Assurance

Thoughts?

Do you plan on changing tires/wheels for the winter? Aside from the road trip, what is your usual commute (city of Denver or Denver to Monument?). How many miles did you get on your Yokos? Is price a consideration? Did you like the Yokos or was there something about them you didn't like?

Everybody has their favorite tire and you'll get lots of opinions. If you answer those questions then we can give you better guidance.

^every one has their favorite tire, because it is subjective!!
What I look for in a tire, may be very different than what others are looking for!
AND every single tire is different, has different characteristics! even brand to brand.
different tire compounds by manufacture, etc.

You have to watch out for a larger tire circumference,or Your speedometer will be off.I went to Tire rack to compare tires.Decided on Michelin Premier LTX.Totally satisfied with tire performance.
I put Continental's on My last SUV.Loved the tire but the spedometer was off due to circumference of tire.I think due to deep tread.Of course the decision is Yours.

My daily habits are city driving, and I avoid the highways (faster to get around on surface streets to the places I frequently go). I switch to winter tires around November. The Yokos seem to be losing tread fast; they are balanced, but losing tread quickly. I've only put on about 3,000. They were brand new when I purchased the car, even had the leftover rubber molding remnant...those fly away little pieces that get worn/rubbed off in the first few miles of riding on new tires). I don't have a quiet comparison as these are the only tires I've experienced on this car, but I'm looking for peoples' experiences. Cost will be a consideration, but I'm not leaning to least expensive alone; I'm going for best value for what I want.

Wait? You've only put 3000 miles on the tires and they are half gone? Something very wrong there. Unless you meant that you've put 30k miles on them with another 4 to go. That would still be a bit early but we don't know which Yoko tires were on the car. Is the wear even? Have you had the alignment checked?

I'm a big fan of Continental tires but I'd recommend that you look at an all-season light truck tire with a high UTQ rating . The all season will help with those freak snows that show up in the middle of August (). Tirerack is a good resource for pricing and most tire places and car dealers will match TR pricing
