will aamco replace cl tranny under acura warranty

since acura is replacing with rebuilt trannys, would a national chain like aamco/midas replace transmission and charge acura/honda?

wow dude...can't believe you're thinking about taking your cl to an aamco....whatever...to each his own

to answer your question, no honda won't be for a grease monkey to replace their tranny...

warranty work is only done by manufacturer trained techs at manufacturer authorized shops....i.e. only at the dealer

Aamco works by rebuilding transmissions and then guaranteeing their work with lifetime replacement (with more rebuilt transmissions). My only interaction with them was in the early 1980s - my dad's Cadillac had a transmission failure and he went there. They replaced it. That transmission lasted a few years and they replaced it again (with a rebuilt model) gratis. There were really no special issues with their transmissions. My dad had that car for close to 300K miles.

I'd consider going there after the warranty is up if I had the auto CL/TL ( :P ) and was planning on keeping it to >200K miles and the lifetime guarantee price was reasonable. It would be nice if Acura would have a similar deal (of lifetime replacement with rebuilt transmissions).

The rebuilt transmission would have the same specs, so I cannot see why going to Aamco would be a problem.

sounds like someone smoked too much before they designed the 5AT, I can blow it up in 5 min without even moving it out of the parking spot Just make sure to destroy it before 12K miles and U will keep on getting new trannies under the 12mo/12K mile parts warranty Acura is lucky I just install these for them, and I don't own one, cause I swear mine would be changed every oil change And I put about 1K mile a week on my car- I don't drive an Acura. And I am still on a OE tranny at over 70K miles

actually i found out that some acura dealers ie mine take their tranny to ammco to get it rebuilt for the customer and charge them 1000 more than what ammco charges. that was waht they were going to do to mine. a friend works for acura and he topld me that so i took my car out and bought a used tranny with 20k. im on my 3rd tranny with 98k

i've heard this is done too.....but then again once a car is out of warranty fealer can do just bout anything. but i believe the question here was regarding getting work done under warranty at a shop other than a dealer

Accurate Auto
10 Taylor Ave.
Annapolis, MD

They are a service shop that is authorized to perform Honda/Acura warranty work. They sell used Acuras and Hondas, but are not a dealer-

I used to take my Integra to an Acura/Honda certified private mechanic in Los Angeles. More honest and a bit cheaper then the local dealer (Keyes in Van Nuys).
