Tranny Issues -- Related to Known Issue?
Hi all!
I purchased a 2003 Acura CL on Saturday. I previously had a 2001 Honda Accord EX, so needless to say, I have been absolutely delighted with my purchase. The CL is like my Accord on steroids, and it's an absolute delight to drive, with the exception of one thing.
Well, two things that may be related. On my way to work this morning, my CEL came on. Oh crap, I thought. That might not be good.
I noticed while getting on the interstate this morning that my car really doesn't like getting out of second gear when I try to accelerate with any sort of force, so to speak. I'm not a lead foot (okay, I'm going from a 4-cylinder to a V6, there has been a bit of "Oh crap, I'm going THAT fast?"), but when I tried to accelerate, the RPMs went up to 4k-ish, and when it finally shifted into 3rd, it went quickly into 4th gear, and the RPMs dropped to around 1500.
My car has 131k miles on it, which puts it past the extended warranty. The dealership I bought it from may not have a return policy, so I'm really hoping I didn't just sink money into a lemon.
Is this the whole AT issue with the CLs, and if so, is there anything I can do about it?
Thank you for your time!

be prepared to buy a new transmission and don't buy another one for a CL, buy a tranny from an Odyssey or 3rd gen TL (many prefer 06-07) if you want to keep it automatic or buy a 6 speed and do a full swap. There are plenty of threads of members who have done the same so browse around or use search for other references.
The auto option can be done for under $2k if you're resourceful in finding a good used engine and installing it for free/cheap if you can do labor or have a hookup for work.
hate to say it, but you probably won't have much luck with dealer, but maybe they will absorb some of your labor/replacement costs if you play it right. good luck.
